So this has been bothering me for few days, and I have no idea what is going on. I can't even find the needed skill in my skill list, and I'm seriously stuck on this.

There is a skill called 'Industry' search for it on the market, buy it and train it to level 1 .

"Industry" is a Skill, which you get by injecting the Skillbook called "Industry", which you can by on the Market.

Buy the "industry" skill book from the market (IIRC about 18k ISK) and train it.

Make sure you look at market details and buy it from your current station or the nearest. I made the mistake of just clicking buy once, and even though I got it at the lowest price, for some reason it bought one for me 8 jumps away even though there was one for sale at my current station for the same price. I can tell you exactly what the reason is. It's because you told it to buy the one 8 jumps away, not the one in your current station.

For future reference, the skill required to manufacture or research from a blueprint is shown on the blueprint. Typically it's just Industry at 1-4 but some advanced blueprints require other skills.

As far as buying from the market, if you just use the small buy/sell window that pops up, it will buy from the cheapest price, which may be in a station 8 jumps away. You should, instead, click the magnifying glass button on that buy window to check the market, and then cancel it, and right-click and buy from the station where you are, or nearest.

You can sort the market by price by clicking on the Price column title.

Crafting.........What?

I have deliberately developed an air of cynicism that I originally intended to make me appear somewhat louche and caddish but actually comes across as irritable hostility combined with the unspoken threat of sudden violence.....

Yeah I'd like to know that to as crafting does not exist in eve I'm pretty sure it's called manufacturing. Though ccp may have made the change correct me if I'm wrong.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

Come on guys. We all know that with crafting he means manufacturing.

As for OP:

Right clicking anything in EVE is your friend. It gives a lot of options and informations.

Show info on modules/ships/blueprints gives you information on what it is, what you need, how much you need to build it, etc.

And you need to buy your own skillbooks for skills you need, the tutorial only supply you with a very very limited amount of skillbooks.

Sort SELL orders by price, lowest to highest.

Sort BUY orders by price, highest to lowest.

Keep in mind the distance and route (through lowsec / or nulsec might not be a good idea) before you buy.

Note that NPC sell orders for skill books are USUALLY the lowest. They are easily identified by being of 364-365 days in duration (the orders are reset to 365 days every downtime); players can only make orders at most 90 days.

You can often find stuff outside your current region using EVE-Central: http://eve-central.com/

Ok I'll bite but any serious corp will give him a much harder time about it I know he's new but in all reality we aren't playing wow.

Manufacturing is one of the most skill intensive professions so OP if you are serious about doing it I'd recommend making google your best friends. There are guides that range from mineral reprocessing to t3 production out there.

Yet at the same time I wish they really did have crafting in this game. Every time I look at a dozen boring identical items fall out of the factory hopper I miss original SWG even more.

It would be nice if the Industry-, Mechanic- and Sciencetree allowed us to use factories and labs combined with weird components to increase the meta-level of items.
