Sorry, I'm sure that there is a better place to put this but I don't know where. I am buying a laptop to play eve and wasn't sure if this laptop could do it. Ill be fine with not being able to walk in a station and playing on low graphics, as long as it runs smooth. Please tell me if it can run it and on what level it can run SMOOTHLY.

Thanks. Also I understand that laptops are not as good so if someone could include a link to a desktop that can play it under $300 I would be much obliged. I could not find one.

Main thing you want for EvE is an independant GPU, you do not want integrated GPU's or one that shares it's RAM with the main computer.

It will run, but you'll have to help it with minimum graphics settings, staying out of crowded grids, and closing chat log and voice. It will be a different game for you, no huge fleet battles, and no running other apps in the back ground, not even a music player. But for somethings it actually works a bit better, the lag on your end smooths out some button mashing, making cloak/MWD trick a bit more reliable imho.

Buy the laptop, but understand that you will face a handicap and some outright limitations. The game is still great fun.

Thanks. I'm really only looking for options in small gang pvp and some pirating, so this is actually good news. I can deal with no chat log or voice. Also thank you for that link, will I face the same limitations as the laptop?

Thinking about it I have run 3rd party voice (TS i think) on my laptop, its just eve voice seemed to give me lag. The other day though i was running something in the back ground and it got all laggy.

So you'll just have to experiment a bit. People really give the Mobile r chipset video driver a lot of hell but i've actually been shocked at how well it does work.

A generic gigabyte board, am3 cpu build with an 2 generation old radeon or nvidia should run smooth even on higher settings. That should come out near 300 for a desktop tower.
