I am in the same boat. I have tried it all now and still no response from my petition. I just finished doing a clean install for the second time and I am still getting this exception error. I have a very narrow window of time to play in, and due to this I have been unable to log in for 3 days now. At this rate I won't get to play again until next weekend.

Got a corp mate to upload a copy of the most recent patch file. Once I confirm it is working, I will post the link here so you can DL the new patch and get back in game.

it now seems that the problem isnt with he patch file itself, but rather with a repar.dat file that is downloaded whether you use the automatic update or import option.

here is the link for the patch file. hopefully it works for you

Just spent the last 4 hours at a family members house who has Highspeed broadband (I only have low end DSL type internet) and was able to get a successful download and install of the Eve Client. Currently I have a rather lengthy petition submitted to CCP for this issue, that in addition to starting out asking for assistance in this matter, has concluded with a request for compensation in both lost game time, as well as any lost SP that may have resulted from this patch problem.

I would suggest that ALL players who have had problems related to this recent patch, file a formal petition to CCP requesting compensation for both lost game time as well as lost SP caused by this unannounced patch, that also had NO patch notes released for it.

Has a solution to this been found yet? I have clean installed twice now and still suffering from this. 4 days now and no response to my petition too.

Guys...I believe I found the solution. I'm not sure if this works for you, but I got exactly same problem as you and I managed solved it.

My environment is Windows 8 64 bit, the problem version, I mean the version when the client and launcher are getting messy, is 458396. As the current time I write this post, the latest version is 476047

I will start with the issue behavior I have. There are some key point you may want to notice:

1. I installed EVE not on the default C:\ drive. My EVE is installed on my D:\Games\CPP\EVE\. You may or may not have the same path, but I suppose install EVE in the different location than default may one reason cause this problem. Especially if you may reset or reinstalled your launcher.

2. The Launcher won't work, everytime it says it creating a patch file and it will crashed. Also the repair tools.

My path to solve the problem is list below:

1. Managed to open your EVE Game. You can do that just by igrone the error message the launcher gives you and click start eve. When you at the login screen, look at the top left corner, there is your current version of client, mark that number down, you will need last 6 digits, something like "458396"

2. Go to this post. It stick at top of this section of forum called Alternative way to Patch. You may already tried and read it. Well, the resources there is useful, but the way it applies is wrong.

3. Go through the list of patch files on that post, find one that start with you current version and start downloading a chain of files. The patch file are name something like "EVE_Online_4XXXXX-4YYYYY_win.zip", so in this format, you will want first download the file whcih 4XXXXX equals to your current version number. Then next, download 4YYYYY-4ZZZZZ....keep downloading until you reach the file end with latest patch version.
(Note: I notice that the latest file ,which in this case 473035-476047 may looks stand alone since there is not patch file ends with 473035. But I tried and it is no problem, just download it and I will show you how to patch it in next step)

4. After you downloaded all these files, you will want to unzip all of them and drag them into ANY folder you like. Yes....any folder. I know that stick post tell you to drag it into your installed folder, you can do that to keep the files in one place, but the launcher won't work even you do so. So put it the place you like.

5. Open launcher, On the top right corner there is a small tool button, click it and open the setting.

6. Select Patches tab (I would prefer you to clear your cache data in the EVE Client Settings tab first).

7. Inside Patches tab, you will click Import button. A file selection window will appear. You are good at basic windows operation right? So find the folder you stored your patch files you just downloaded and unziped, and import them ONE BY ONE. I mean you will need to import these file in the order, first start with you current version to newer version, then newer to newer.

When you do this, you should notice that progress bar at bottom of launcher start running when do patching. You will also notice that the text info above that progress bar will indicate which version you are applying, use it as a reference. Just remember, MAKE IT IN ORDER!

There may be error message during the patching, just close it.

8. After you down all the patch, in this case the last one you import should be EVE_Online_473035-476047.win.patch. You should be good to press the PLAY button and get into the game!

Let me know if this works for you. Good Luck!
