Hi is anyone getting totally random socket closed messages from EVE? A friend was getting this all day on Thursday and now it's happening to me. Totaly different ISP's so I can only assume the problems is at CCP's end?

It's been happening to a lot of people for a while now. The tech support section of the forums has some threads and feedback about it and I believe one Dev asked us to supply logs to help them.

Can't remember any more details though sorry.

Question: Are you using WiFi?

I do and every time I get a socket closed error it is down to a temporary loss of signal between my PC and the router. One of the advantages of being a long time EvE Radio listener is that when the stream drops I know the signal has gone down and I'm about to get the error.

I think there is a time out programmed in so that if the client ceases talking to the server for so many seconds it gives up. Anything else and it just starts rubber banding like it was 2004 again. Blink

Nah all wired connections, would not use wifi for this kind of game. It appears I'm not the only getting this issue though.

Same issue here when I play on my laptop. I play with a wired connection, even desactivated my wifi card but it didn't help. Tried to turn off my firewall, no result either.

When I play on my desktop everything is fine.

Unfortunately, it could be so much thing that causes this issue that I don't know where to look first.

GL to devs.
