I am a new pirate willing to YARR loudly but I am curious on what ships to look for as a beginner? Frigates or Cruisers when starting out? I can fly all Tech 1 ships on each fraction. I know I will lose alot of ships and that is fine, but the main thing is making sure I get the best bang!!! for my buck.

Pirates are a subjective term.

I consider Pirates your -5 to -10 chars. So what do you plan on being? What is your goal?

I plan on getting my character to -10. i have no problem living in low sec and not going into high sec. I have another character who takes care of the real money. This is for fun and having no rules

Well most people will pipe that you need fit and fly a rifter. However kick them in the nuts and go Merlin. Great little ship with a medium ASB.

I'm a fan of the ASB blaster Caldari boats all the way up. Moa/Thorax/Rohk are all awesome.

90% of the time I fly one of two hulls for piracy in highsec and lowsec. The Catalyst for suicide ganks, and the Merlin for pretty much anything else. The ASB Merlin is a downright scary ship that can take out much larger hulls solo if you pick your targets well and use game mechanics to your advantage. It's low price tag also makes it ideal for starting out and learning the trade, as losses won't hurt too much.

t1 cruisers are pretty OP atm. If you meta fit (I never thought I'd say that but OTEC has made the cost of several t2 mods pretty absurd) it you still have a pretty mean little beast that will cost you considerably less than 10M (after insurance) when it goes pop.

Dude, change your duck face. I am offended by your ugliness.
