How about a ship that lowers the stats of any ships not in the fleet that enters the grid, works like boostsbut how dope would that be for gate camps/ nullifying off grid boosts/ high sec ganks Twisted (not that i would ever Blink). Boosts would be more powerful on grid, lol you could balance ur ship and stop crying, mission and anom runners had to (i have nice loki skills, yet i'm more drawn to the idea of a funner EVE).

yeah!

From the csm minutes, an effect that is just for a single grid is by itself a coding issue. That effect being a boost or a nerf is not the issue.

Coding issues aside grid-bound effects would be a horrible idea and just lead to a new age of grid-fu full of unintended consequences.

I very much hope that CCP won't open this can of worms.

How did they do the old AoE doomsday?

Use that, but with X% "boost", instead of XXXdmg.

You targeted a ship and it would cause damage in an area around that ship rather than just blapping the entire grid.

First, drop the dope.
Then learn to post in the right forum.
And last but not least is your idea over-powered ("for any ship that's not in my fleet" ... Roll).

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Wrong, the AoE doomsday was a smartbomb effect with 250km range and a 15 second delay centred on the Titan that activated it

Having booster effects (or anit booster effects) have an area of effect (like a smart bomb or old style doomsday) would likely be the better option.

However they would have to find a way to reduce the server load of a continuous effect in a given range (and the huge volume of calculations that would result as long as it was active).

The only way that a grid based solution would work is if they change how they handle grids (fixed grids), keeping in mind that this could also end up with a whole new set of grid fu tactics being introduced.

Either solution is possible, neither one is going to be quick or easy.

if only gang links required cap, you might have an existing counter to them (when they are forced on grid eventually...)

Grid meant that you could be 10km from the titan (in a different grid) and the DD missed.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships
