I'm considering extending my arm into the world of moon mining. Can I set up more than one array in a pos to mine the same material? Or does each array have to mine something else? Also, what is a recommended first timer setup, to get to grips with?

Hello Herman Klaus,

It sounds like an exciting step you are doing there, good luck! The Evelopedia has an article about Moon mining and you might find there some more information.

You definitely can run several moon harvesters if the moon provides enough different materials. You can run only one moon harvester per material though.

Maybe it is also worth considering running basic or complex reactions instead of additional harvesters.

Woop. A dev response. Thank you CCP Phantom.

've had a look at that and although reactions are exciting, I want to keep my commitment low for now. RL and work prohibits my gaming time so I would like it to be as simple as possible for the time being.

You cannot mine the same material twice, even if its abundance is 2 or more. You can mine every mineral present (so if there's 4 minerals, you can throw up a large tower with 4 harvesters).

Just to make sure, are you aware that the only place you can mine moons is in low/nullsec where anyone that wants to can come and blow up your POS? If you somehow manage to set up on a valuable moon ... or some people with dreads are just bored, expect your POS to be forcibly removed if you can't defend it properly.

And as people have said already, one miner per material per moon, no matter what. And reactions really don't take any more work than just mining the goo once you're set up for it, you just have two miners sucking out goo and a reactor combining them automatically and you collect that instead of just the basic goo.

I'm fully aware of the risk of Lolseks and Null. I'm not concerned anout that too much tbh. I'm more concerned about setting it up properly.

I'll look into the reactions then. Cheers.

EDIT: Forgot to ask, do reactions require blueprints?

EDIT EDIT: I skilled up on 'paying attention' and read it in the guide.

You really really should be. With zero support and no alliance your investment will turn into dust in a matter of time.
