Shortcut to Open Wreckage Cargo "Open Cargo []"

Hi Guys,

I have a question, is there a way to bind "Open Cargo []" as displayed in the Select items windows to a shorcut key such as... space.

Currently to me there seems to be only two ways to open Cargo:

1)Select Object, ensure within 2.5km click "Open Cargo []" (Preferred Method)

2)Double Click a Wreckage (As long as it's within 2.5km it opens the cargo, most of the time) Hate this Method

I find that the method 1 is reasonably fast, but when dual boxing it can get a little bit annoying having to select each and every wreck and click this button, my reasoning behind hating the second method that sometimes my ship will approach a wreckage, thus moving me out of range of other wreckages, and then open the cargo.

I simply want to be able to speed my salaving experience up, either by allowing me to remap this nice little button or allow me the ability to double click Wrecks from my currently locked Targets, currently this seems to simply reorder the targets i have locked.

Hopefully this makes sense, can anyone help me please! :)

Press Escape.

Go to the shortcuts/keybindings tab.

Set as many keyboard shortcuts as your twitchy little fingers can handle.

There, now you know how to do this on every MMO ever.

(Seriously, though, yes, open inventory window can indeed be set to a hotkey, and in fact I think it's set to "C" by default and you must have mapped something over it if it's not set anymore. Why "C"? I don't know, maybe an Icelandic language reference?)

EDIT: also, you can left-click and hold to get a circular slide-select menu to open containers.

Nope, sorry you're stuck with those two methods.

Personally I like method 2 because I tractor everyone and let my salvage drones nom at them all. Once the salvage drones are done all I have left is a series of cans in a messy sphere around me that I rapid fire open and rapid fire loot.

Sadly while the inventory can be mapped to something this particular action has no ability to be mapped to anything.

Just opening the inventory may not help in this case...

… see that there is no option to bind "Open Wreck" or "Open Container" to a shortcut key.

It helps to follow your own advice before giving it.

Would be really nice if they added more context sensitive uses for the hot-key 'D' (Dock/ Jump/ Activate Gate). Being able to use 'D' to 'Open Wreck' would be intuitive, among other uses.

Maybe...but that's just a thought of someone like me it's mapped to C cause of the word Cargohold

Methinks the looting system is made this way to curb down autoloot marco scripts. I see some simple UI features missing that should be in EvE to make life easier. First thing I think nowadays whenever I run across ideas to make it simpler is: can this be exploited by a macro? Then I realize why such things are cumbersome to use (one more example is some features of PI).

There wouldn't be autoloot macro scripts if we could just loot our wrecks with a lot less clicking, that is the thing. One would want to stop macros that mine, macros that do missions, macros that PVP, before even worrying about macros that loot the stuff that's legitimately yours, because you've spent the effort to transmute the rats (or your PVP enemies) into wrecks.

A lot of loot-focused games out there, from Diablo to the popular MMO's, have "loot all" buttons. SWTOR you loot the whole area with one click on one wreck. That the game is about loot does NOT mean that the fun is in the mechanics of looting. Nobody's gonna have an orgasm from approaching EVE's wrecks, clicking the Loot Wreck button, or listening to the stupid moaning sound they make.

So CCP's looting interface is just stupidly bad UI design.

Im guessing your doing the killing urself since ur not using a tractor beam?
Personally i dont find it that hard, but then again i either use a tractor beam or using a superfast ship with mwd if i bother to ninja salvage.

I actually prefer the double click method whenever i cant fit a tractorbeam and need the slots for dps, because i can just double click the wreck in the overview and forget about it while i dps on approach and it will open up the window when i get close enough.

If you do have a tractor fitted, the double click is also super handy. Just pull everything close, then run through the overview (sorted by distance) double clicking through the list. You can then mash the loot button on the open window until all cargo cans are looted. Once everything is in range, you can clear the lot as fast as you can double click
