Drone's AI PVE (What is wrong with this AI "update"!?)

hello all,

im beginning to notice that since the Retribution update (Changed drone behaviour)

it's been going downstream for me when using droneboats for pve purposes.


all these changes to drone AI seem to unstable (unpredictable) for me

i noticed today, that i can't even launch light scout drones to counter even frigs (yesterday was still fine)

cause the moment i attack one with a swarm of light scout drones (hob's for example) they get primary targeted immediately!



anyone else have these problems?

and if you have: do you like or dislike the fact that these "drone AI" updates have brought us?

Drones cost too much. If they're gonna be spent like ammo, make them cost like ammo, and increase dronebay size so we can carry more "ammo."

when you pull in your drones, wait a few seconds for the AI to start redboxing you. The AI is far more likely to go after your drones if they don't yet have a target, in my experience.

try fitting some sort of remote rep/E-War. Helps keep you in the sights of the NPC;s instead of your drones.

And suddenly everyone and their mom have several flights of different ECM drones in addition to any damage drones they may have...

The NPC's love for drones seems to differ from mission to mission. You see a couple of elite frigs in AE4 for example, but in that mission, they just don't seem to be interested in my light drones, but in some missions NPCs really love drones and tend to repeatedly switch aggro to them.

I don't like this change at all, elite frigs pop drones just too fast for you to be able to react sometimes. Drone ratting now seems really frustrating.

Only use your light drones when the NPC frigs are close, that way they get back in time. Use Sentry's for everything else if you are a drone boat, maybe heavies on BC and BS orbiting close to you. By close I mean 10km or less.
