Looks over substance.

Or the other way around. I was wondering if you ever train a ship simply cause you like the look of it?

And or have not trained a ship because you don't like the look of it?

For example I can fly the Phoenix which I happen to like the look of and which seems to be a dread that most think is not as good as say the Moros which I was thinking of training but don't like the look of it.

Sorry im bored at work....

Looks over substance every time.

For example, I don't and probably never will use any of the Gallente ships. They just look "wrong" to me. I would use two of the Amarr ships if I had use for them, the Providence and the Ashimmu (if i could bribe one of the Devs into making me one with Projectile or Missile Bonuses) :-) I do use one Amarr ship based on subsatnce, the Harbinger, but thats only because it far outweighs any of the other BC's in certain of it's stats

So I tend to stick with Minmatar and Caldari types. And again, there are some of those I wouldn't use either.

All the time Big smile

Picked Amarr because of backgrounds, used Abaddon over Apoc as my first lvl4 mission boat because of looks (specifically, couldn't stand Apoc's appearance), trained a hauler alt into Provi (scrapped on the way, but oh well) for the same reason...

Works both ways though. Never thought that Sansha ships look appealing to me until I flown one (effects on their textures are great, and you don't really see that fully until you actually undock one to take it for a trip through different regions).

i picked the omen way back when for missions jsut cause i prefered the look of it at the time over the Mauler even thoug the mauler would have been better for me for missions, and i got the NOman purely cause it looks badass, the fact its a totaly awesome ship stats wise to boot is just an added bonus to me ^_^

i also picked Amarr 8 years ago just cause i loved the look of the amarr ships over everything else :-P

Of course, they are damn spaceships :D

Sexifullness matters

Luckily the best looking ships are also the best for what I want to do - Gallente <3

Notable exception to this rule is the freaking Space Potato. It is by far the best battleship one could ever imagine, but damn

just damn

it still has the charms of a green mutant potato and no amount of motherly or brotherly affection can change that.

People in pretty ships never 'lose' battles - no matter the outcome, they always look fabulous.

Ships are at their most fabulous in their death throes.

I've often flown for looks at the expense of performance - though fortunately the two happily coincide.

I trained Amarr because the 'geddon was shiney and awesome (I must say I was very disappointed when it became flat and boring). I didn't train Caldari until the Rokh came out and there was finally something I was willing to fly in their line-up...
Over the years though I have come to enjoy the looks of some ships I'm surprised at - most notably the suitcase-dinosaur which is just such a unique looking ship...

I'll take 2 carebears to go, with extra tears

Not so much as to what I skilled and why, but i hate the way the Moa/Blackbird hulls look, but ill fly the hell out of them because of how effective they are. The Rokh isnt the greatest pve ship, but Ill fly the hell out of it because it looks awesome.

True story: I haven't flown a Helios since it switched from the Maulus hull (with space antennae!) to the Imicus hull. The only saving grace of any of that was the introduction of the Magnate hull into mass production and the fact that the Anathema actually looks halfway decent.

I could never be accused of training my most used ship for its looks.

Yes, ship appearance is very important to me. The hull itself must pass the appearance check, and the turret placements must do so as well.

Vertical is good -- Myrmidon, Tornado, Naglfar.

Nidhoggur and Hel are my favorite carrier and supercarrier because they just look cool.

Catalyst is my favorite destroyer because I think it's the best-looking one. I like the Eris for the same reason, though the switch from a rotating sensor array to a spotlight bugs me a bit. Seems kind of pointless.

Crusader and Malediction are my favorite interceptors because they're the coolest-looking.

I wouldn't fly the Stabber before, but it's awesome-looking now. The Tempest is much-improved as well.

I won't fly the Cynabal because I think it's fugly. Dramiel and Daredevil too. Apotheosis and Gnosis are also on that list.

I won't fly the Omen or any ship based on its hull because the one-armed-bandit look just isn't my thing.

I won't fly the Harbinger because the one turret is offset to one side.

I like the Coercer, but because it fires its lasers through its own hull, I won't fly it.

The first time I saw a Punisher, I took one look and thought "Based on a Klingon Bird of Prey." Because of that comparison, it bugs me that the wings aren't flared out wider. I won't fly it.

Yeah, I'm a bit particular when it comes to ship appearance...

Looks is the ONLY reason to fly a ship!

I really like the flexibilty of the minnie ships but man I don't like the rusty scaffold look at all! Loving the new sexy stabber though!!

I'm mostly Gallente specced, but in the longer run, I plan to crosstrain for a Moa just for the looks.

every ship has its visual appeal TBH, i fly amarr ships for now (mostly because i get the impairor as rookie ship, i love that ship), but i plant on being able to fly any playable ship.

Both. Looks are a factor, but I will not pick a ship over another purely based on it, if it means I'll suffer a considerable performance drop. That said, it should be stated that looks are a subjective matter and some ships may be beautiful to some people, while considered ugly to others.

Guilty. When I started playing my friends all told me to train winmatar, but honestly the ships look like some of the mad max nonsense I built as a kid in the neighbors junkyard. I just couldn't do it...

Then I started flying Amaar and realized how awesome lasers are, thus having better applied damage than guns and avoiding tetanus.
