One concept I've been working on in my Eve career is that of minimizing risk.

I've lost just few too many ships to pirates when it was totally unecessary. For instance, I recently lost a Brutix to a gate camp when I was warping across the galaxy to pick up a skill book.

Now, what I do is I use a ship that is just enough for the job at hand - no more overkill. Now, instead of using a Brutix to pick up a skill book, I'll use a shuttle. Instead of killing rats in 0.4 < x < 0.1 space with a Brutix, I use a Thorax, etc.

I find that using the right tool for the job and avoiding overkill seems to reduce risk substantially. Now, if I stumble across a gatecamp, all I might lose 25k isk on a Shuttle rather than 20 million isk on a BC.

To this end I have like 4 different ships right now.

Is this something that just I do, or do other people do similar things?

Counting catalysts?

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

Hundreds...at any given time I keep several fitted t1 frigates of all races and varieties (the majority of my stash)...multiple cruisers...hics/hacs/recons...battlecruisers of every make and model...and even a few lumbering bs including a few faction varients...just don't undock with something you can't afford to loose....

20 ships, not counting shuttles.
I prefer to keep it simple.

I have an Abaddon, a Harbinger, Punisher (If I remember the frigate's name correctly.), a covetor, and a retriever. That's it.

160 Tech1 frigates, 2 Tech2 frigates, 3 faction frigates, 1 Tech1 battleship, 2 faction battleships, 1 marauder, Noctis, Venture, 5 special edition frigates, 2 industrial ships with retriever.

Custom ship skins, character creator style "repaint". Bring it!

I have a stack of a thousand rifter lying around, ready for PvP the day I choose to leave Hisec and become a fancy Forum Warrior.

Odyssey: Repacking in POS hangars for modules +1,  but please for other stuff too, especially containers. Make containers openable in POS hangars.

40 something pre-fit ships (not including shuttles and capitals).

I usually have about 2 to 4 ships that do the same tactic or specialty in case I lose one of them.

How did you Veterans start?

I was just going to post that I have absolutely no clue Lol

I'm pretty sure I had thousands in December, but most of those were for sale. I find stacks of unassembled ships in some stations because of "oh cool cheap Taloses imma buy them all" or "lets build some Myrms" and then forget them, and I got fitted ships spread all over because of ~wormholes~ and low sec status.
