Live Feed From Iceland While We Wait During Downtime.

A very simple idea, however it would be something practical for players such as myself. I imagine I am not the only one that spams their login button trying to be the first one online after downtime. The idea that I propose would be a live feed of the time spent behind the scenes during downtime. It would be nice to see what happens in those offices while we are stuck behind our keyboards, trying to determine exactly when the server is going to be back online. If we could see what was happening, it would 1 keep us entertained but 2 it would allow us to know when the server is going to be back at our fingertips. Now CCP you don't have to show us a lot, just give us a little piece of mind that you are having downtime for a good reason and not just to get in a Siesta Big smile. We all know that downtime is vital and we appreciate the hard work that is done every day, but it doesn't have to be a guessing game for us players waiting to log back on. This idea could be fun for both parties and open up many different possibilities...I want to see where this can go!

This does not have to be creepy or inconvenient for the employees of CCP. You have to get creative with the idea and just imagine what could be brought in front of the dedicated players, such as myself.

Idea's:

1) Hosted Events

2) Pick a division/employee to entertain a topic in their field

3) Random facts of the day

4) Live office mischief/pranks

5) Pre-recorded discussions

6) SOMETHING FUN AND CREATIVE!!!

Just be creative and think of all the possibilities and fun that could come with this. I would personally enjoy all of these ideas and please, people be inspired and post more ideas. This is fun for everyone....including CCP!

I would imagine not a great deal actually happens. I assume its all automated scripts that run as soon as the server goes down.

We would likely be watching an office of people getting on with their daily lives.

I suppose I am an odd breed, but just being able to witness where everything happens would be gratifying in its own way. However, as I mentioned it is not necessarily going to be stimulating at all times, but being able to tell when they are about finished and rebooting the server would be amazing. I am one that enjoys tuning into the NASA channel just to see whats going on at JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratories) in California, its not overly exciting, however it is still intriguing. Also having something to draw my attention away from the clock at the lower-right-bottom of my screen would be a welcome change. This could lead to many other possibilities and keep capsular poised to log back onto the game we all live for.

This is a possibility to open another form of communication/entertainment to the Eve addicts all over the Globe, use your imagination and think of what you would like to see!

I would say that is when CCP gets together and does their World of Warcraft raids. :) Gotta get their uber lewtz!

They used to have a live webcam stream that you could control. It was located in their fish tank. Check to see if it is still around, it might satisfy your need to be all pervy and watch the CCP folks.

Such as a status update yet a little more then just that.
By status update, I would suggests phrases such as
" its gona be a long one "
" should just be a quick reboot "
" HAMSTER DOWN!!, complete downtime extended x minutes minimum "
[ use you imagination ]

We could add somesort of video feed...
The crew should try the touch of fame...

Well,

In regards to this I think it could be a good/bad idea and here's why.

The Good

-provide much needed entertainment for the eve community and generally anyone who cares to watch.
-help pass the time for people who don't like waiting for things to happen. (us)
-let's us see what's "inside" the ccp office, if only to prove that there aren't wizards in there waving magical wands or people pressing the easy button and stuff being fixed.

The Bad

-takes away valuable time from the people who actually need to concentrate (ccp and maybe those of us at work who SHOULD be doing work, lol)
-distraction for those at ccp and or us.
-potential waste of resources and source of irritation for those of us who don't want something popping up when we least need it, especially if the feed is on downtown. >:)


overall, I think it could potentiall be a good idea, because ccp could engage the player on a more personal level by being like "this is what we do when things go wrong or when we really have nothing to do because things are going right.

more like a window into ccp's world, bring the company more in line with the player, maybe post questions, answer questions, show us what's going on in the next patch. etc. etc. there could be many things this could be used for.

YES! This personal level is what I want for CCP to engage in with us player. This idea will allow players to experience something new and exciting. I want us to see first hand what is going on and allow CCP a window from which to show us anything they wish.
