Can't buy higher priced items - working as intended?

A personal philosophy of mine is that I hate the 99.99'ers. Someone is selling their item for 10,000 and someone comes along and sells the same item for 9,999.99. So I had always felt that I'd buy from the guy selling it for 10K The savings of .01 isn't worth letting whom I considered a dork get his stuff bought (I said I consider them a dork, not that they are one for what they do).

Well today I noticed two things:

First, when I went to buy from the higher priced guy, I acutally purchased the item from the .99'er
Second, I bought it for the full 10,000 to the .99'er

Is this working as intended? That I cannot buy something from someone for a higher price, and yet pay that higher price to the undercutter?

Yes, it's working as intended. You always buy from the person with the lowest price, at the price that you set (assuming it's higher than the lowest price)

At the same time. You do this. You end up buying my orders regardless as i may set up 5 or 6 sell orders competing against themselves by .01 isk. Its just a strategy to get sell orders fulfilled.

Ah well, that imuo (in my unpopular opinion) sucks. I should be allowed to pay who I want what I want.

Carry on and fly safe.

You can. Just use contracts or the trade window.

The market works the way the stock market works IRL. Your broker buys the cheapest item available and pays the price you set for it.

I was gonna say the same thing lol

The only difference is that when you try to by the one for 10k instead of the.01 below is the guy who is at 10k just hasn't .01'd the other guy yet haha

This is (at least partly) to prevent money laundering from RMT, I believe, so yes, working as intended.

Look whose Dorking now Big smile

And why is someone a dork for listing their exact same item for 1 cent less, giving them more chance to sell their stuff first.

Is it dorkish to be a competative trader.

There are only a few forms of competition in Eve trading and thats price and convenience, you cannot sell/make a better Shield Boost 1 module than mine, all you can do is sell cheaper or in a more convenient location but that is at the expence of volume. So in any 1 station the only way to out do you competitors is to cut your price.

If you interested I will eve mail you all the profitable items I deal with as long as you promise not to be a dork and keep your price above mine
