Been away, Tengu question

I've been away from Eve/inactive for a couple years and I have about a billion things to catch up on, maybe you all can help me out on this quick question.

I've heard rumors that Tengu's and/or missile launchers are getting nerfed in the near future. Is this true?

HML was adjusted a bit. Whether a nerf or not is depending on how anal you are about dps. I still run my hml tengu and it basically runs about the same. If a dps over achiever....tengu was not the right ride for this anyway. T1 ammo my skills has me at like 88km with the new ranges. I rarely fired from 110+ km's and I know any cruiser based gun options I could run wished they could have this reliable dps at 88 km's down to 0 km's...this nerf not so bad imo.


HAM got buffed with the guide missile skill and rigs that never applied to unguided missiles now applying.

The next nerf for missile chuckers in any shape or form I know of is a grid reduction in the drake. Not really a nerf, most if not all BC's are getting this grid reduction. And if you know how to use the compare tool in eve (or compare numbers in eft)...a little bit of high meta swapouts will keep that BC running well.

Yeah right, unguided missiles and rigors... as if you've ever had the option to use anything other than range rigs to begin with. And to "compensate" for your newfound rigors, exp radius got bigger. Why CCP thought Rage Torps needed even bigger exp radius then they had, I'll never known.

That -10% direct dmg nerf which only affected hmls was never the real nerf, the real nerf was in exp radius and exp velocity, and it didn't only affect hmls.

Rage torps with GMP 4 have a 4.7% lower explosion radius with GMP 4 than they used to (with no GMP applying at all). With GMP 5 that becomes a 10.7% relative reduction. Their explosion velocity remains unchanged. Throw that in with a 5.6% damage increase and you get a net applied damage increase no questions asked. The only thing nerfed is their range.

And that's all before rigors, which also now apply.

Heavies don't make out so well. They took an across the board 12ish% hit to explosion radius. Furies took another hit with a 30% decrease to explosion velocity. Precisions at least got an 11.5% increase to the same. Couple that with a 10% decrease to raw damage (5% to fury; precision actually got a 3.8% increase in raw damage) and things look a little meh.

Having said that, they still work. Just not as well.

Here's a shocker for ya - I never used range rigs on HAMs to begin with, nor do I do so now. Torpedo Rage hits 24km ahead, which is compareable to Pulse lasers with Conflagration/Multifrequency or Neutron Cannon with navy AM charges. Javelin hits 45km out, which compares to long range ammo in guns. In other words, unguided missile range is perfectly in line with short range guns, it's just the damage application against small targets on large weapons that sucks. Incidentally, that's something that Retribution helped with - it didn't make Torpedoes useful against frigates, but it did make HAMs a viable weapon choice. as far as the relative HM to HAM power goes, things are perfect right now, only torpedoes and cruises remain a problem.
