I have always used Noctis as the plural for Noctis.

Also, rule #1 for odd plurals: if you ever think it's going to end in -ii, it isn't.

Noctibus is correct if you follow latin conventions with the name. I would assume FCs would use Noctis' or Noctis.

Edit: wait, I'm an idiot. Noctis is genitive, it is indeed Noctium.

This will teach me for trying to remember rather than just opening google.

Noctis could be a completely fictional name, that is made up by a developer who knows nothing about latin, much less about its third declination. In that case a general plural would be "noctises".

If who invented them wanted to use latin as radix, then Noctis is not a noun, it's a genitive of the name "nox" (night) and means "of the night".

A plural of the noun "nox" is "noctes".

I don't agree (yeah a surprise) with Tippia suggesting "noctium" because latins would not just transpose a genitive into its plural, they'd use the proper noun made into plural. If we really want to "force-noun-plural" a genitive then we may as well consider it a developer fantasy made name and call them Noctises.


Edit: that's the problem with Wikipedia and dictionaries, they are tools to be used with background information on the topics they cover yet most just copy and paste.

Since Noctis is the genitive (indicating possession, in this case 'of the night'), and not really a noun, the case for a plural is rather vague and interesting.

CCP Devs decided to make Noctis into a noun because it sounds cool I guess.

Honestly that makes no sense.

If using the genitive one cannot just haphazardly switch to the proper noun form and use the plural of that and have it make grammatical sense at all. Unless you know this somehow because you were 'there' with the ancients.

What would the plural of "primae noctis" be?

Since Noctis is a noun, not part of a phrase, I think it's safe to assume that English style pluralisation is appropriate: "Noctises". Or if you want to sound like a bobo (that's a French perjorative for "hipster", derived from "bourgeoisie bohemian") you could try fancy false-Latin endings such as Noctii or Noctium. That will impress your dumb friends in the noob PvP corp, but won't pass muster on the forums.

Latin's a dead language, as dead as dead can be. It killed the ancient Romans, and now it's killing me!

lol. I know, it is a crazy case indeed. It's a manufactured use of the word turned into a noun.

edit: at least the developers of the old game "Noctis" used it properly as the title translated "Of the Night".
