This guy played a UO "free shard" and comes out with three valuable lessons for sandbox MMOs:

- Offline, skill-based advancement
- Persistant world with NPC spawns to trigger player action
- Home ownership

I can't see how the two last items, largely absent from EVE, could be bad for EVE...

Incursions and Player Owned Structures, so not too bad, imo.


Edit: I always thought the lesson to learn from Ultima Online was not to give in to the whiners, but whatever....

The last one isn't absent in the slightest, we just changed their name to space stations. You can own space stations anywhere you want in game. You can own multiple space stations. You can share each space station with your friends or alliance members. You can.... Oh sorry, you were talking about space barbies Malibu dream house again weren't you? Weren't you cancelling your account to go to GW2 a while back?
