YC dates ?

Hi
I write a captain log now and again for my character and i have gotten mixed up with the YC dates. Would it be possible for someone to set me straight with them please?

At the moment the date i have is YC115-19-1. I got a feeling this is not correct though.

This is correct.

The YC year for any date can be easily found by taking the current RL year and subtracting 1898.

Also, typically the date is just written normally :

Short Form : 19/01/115

Long Form : Saturday, January 19th, YC115

Is there anything special about 1898? Or was that difference chosen arbitrarily? :)

It's 1998 (when the game time was started) minus 100, to make it have a little history of use for storymaking.
