So I found my first DED Site 4/10 was pretty excited and found somone to help me clear it because i only have a T1 cruiser...

This was in High Sec and after the first room 2 people showed up attacked the overseer and looted it and took off with 140million of the loot. i wasnt able to do enough dps for it to not be yellow...

you know this is pretty @#$tty for a newb. Much thanks to "Clair One" and her buddy for making my day :/

What am i supposed to do?

It's a public site, anyone can scan it just like you, and can enter it just like you. Some people are nice and let you finish it, but this is EVE, and that's an exception.

Don't waste time with the next one. Go for the Overseer or structure and kill and loot it fast. Most of the money is in the loot from the Overseers or elite spawns, so you want to ignore or tank the other ships and kill that first.

Use the Evelopedia Anomalies Page to search for the site by name, so you know what to expect and where the loot is.

EDIT: The loot is random, too, most of the time it's only 1 million, so don't feel too bad. The 140 is really rare; unless they actually bragged that they got it, they probably didn't.

Sites are not yours. Like most things in EVE, exploration is a competitive profession and you need to be prepared to deal with other players dumping on you now and then. It's up to you to outsmart them.

You were at a disadvantage but there were things you could've done. If you had disabled your safety and positioned yourself such that you were aligned to a celestial object and would pass next to the overseer wreck, you could've quickly scooped the loot and warped out before they would have been able to do anything. Or even if you didn't prealign, there's a very low probability that they had a warp disruptor fitted, meaning you could just grab the loot and warp away at your leisure.

I had someone come in just as I was finishing up the Overseer. Soon as it went boom, he ran after the wreck to loot it (even though it was mine). Only thing that prevented him was that I tractored it to me ASAP and looted it myself. Literally, it was seconds I would have lost it.

Was a measly 1 million ISK item, but still, he almost took it. Or maybe he even was in range, but looked in the wreck and decided not to risk his ship to steal the cheap item.

Anyway, kill whatever rats you have to kill to get to the final stage, and don't waste time trying to loot or salvage the lesser wrecks. Bookmark them and come back later, once you've completed the site and have all the time in the world.

Incidentally, T1 cruiser is probably sufficient for 3/10 DED. I do them in T1 cruiser. Granted, I have skills for T2 modules on the cruiser, but you don't really need a T3 ship, a battlecruiser, or other more expensive ships.

There isnt much you can do except get faster at clearing the site, which you can only fix with time. I still remember the first time a tengu passed me while I was in my myrmidon, I told myself 'i want a tengu'. Took me several months to get the skills/isk for it. It was awesome.

After scanning a while with it, A tengu enters a site im already in and I think 'i got this, im in a tengu also'. I had an afterburner fit, he had a MWD, I lost.

DED 4/10s will always be competitive, and even once you get pretty good at it, you can still lose. That's EvE.

it's not yours unless it's in your station hangar or your wallet. the only advice i can give you is to be faster next time or explore in less populated areas.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Move to low sec where you can shoot them. "Race to the loot" does suck and is the main "pvp" feature in high sec exploration...good luck.

If you see someone trying to steal your loot, just hug the overseer and instaloot it as soon as the wreck shows up and then warp out.

Might want to have a little pvp experiance before trying this one. If you shoot they get to shoot back and a solo tengu not prepared is called a loot pinata. Blink

What happens if they lock you before the rat pops and bumps ya out of alignment? If you're successful you're global flagged to everyone...dock FAST.
