Strips of steak (usually the cheapest the gorcery store had) mixed with a whole box of white rice... DOUSED in BBQ sauce.

My old roomate and I called it "Bachelor Chow."

that sounds pretty good, although I'd just throw the steak on a loaf of bread.

Noddles, hummus, sweet chilli sauce and chicken. I think it's mostly the hummus sweet chilli combo that does it for me.

Peanut butter and date sandwiches, my grandparents made them so I grew up on them and didn't realize it was odd until I got a bit older an mentioned it people.

I recently tried steak tartare, but it was a bit of a let down Sad. The capers and seasoning over powered the steak, it was just a bit of a mush that didn't taste of meat.

When i was a kid, I used to drink vinegar. My parents had to put more effort into securing the vinegar than they did the bleach. I still like to drown my chips in it now but i don't class it as a beverage anymore.

On the subject of heart attack foods, when i was in the Air Force they used to occasionally serve " Cheese and ham dreams " in the mess. This was a ham and cheese sandwich dipped in beaten egg and then fried. Excretions from a cow's mammary gland, mixed into two unfertilized chicken ovums. Whip it all together and fry it in a pig's melted fat. Ummm!

Let's see...

1) Crickets (live) in chocolate sauce
2) Various insects with chilly powder...the fat ones are pretty disgusting, but grasshoppers are fine.
3) Snake (and wearing its spine as a bracelet now)
4) Kobe beef...they massage those cows and give them beer :D
5) Fugu...just make sure the person preparing it knows what he's doing, mistakes are deadly.
6) Guinea pig...in Peru.

I also had rotten eggs in Cambodia, but I can't remember what they called it. Oh, and "morning glory" is a Thai vegetable dish...I kind of expected something more.

I get around a lot for work, love trying new stuff :)

Or minced meat wrapped in bacon and beef medallion. Sauté 5 minutes and serve with pasta and souce.

Did the fugu make your lips numb? The first time I had it there were no odd effects. But the second time my face got partially paralyzed and I was spacey for about an hour. Think I got a little fugu toxin there.

My list of oddities:
1) Sea cucumber intestines (Japan) - Served raw in ponzu (kind of a tangerine-vinegar-soy sauce stuff). Was about like a string of spaghetti, except made of fat. Not too bad, pretty bland.
2) Shiokara (Japan) - Salted raw squid, buried in a jar for a few weeks to ferment. Actually pretty tasty.
3) Dog (Micronesia) - Diced and cooked in salt, coconut milk and lemon grass. Pretty tough and gamey alright. I don't really recommend it. Actually most Micronesians don't recommend it. Young guys will cook up a dog once a while for a drinking party.
4) Termite queen (Liberia) - About 5 cm long, pan fried. Tastes like the yolk of a hardboiled egg.
5) Potto (Liberia) - It a kind of lemur. They have a strong musk, and the smell goes all through the meat. Better stew it a long time, that meat is like rock-hard rubber.

Spaghettios and chili/beans straight from the can. No cook time or anything. APPARENTLY I'm considered weird by most friends and coworkers because I don't bother to even cook it but for some reason I like the taste. Picked up the habit from camping. Usually we throw the can in the fire for 5 minutes but every now n then we just didn't give a ****.

Chef Boyardee ravioli...

After 6 months of nothing but MREs even cold out of the can it is the food of the gods Shocked

I can atest to this. But for me its some weird german canned hamburgers in onion gravy. Ive never tasted something so good after being on MREs for ages.

If only we could tap this ability and market it.

But then people might just explode from being so fat.

Then again i kinda like MREs. Oops

Coming off a long SpecOps run, past the point where the balogna had turned to a solid green core, past the point where we'd used all the powdered eggs and milk, past the point where we'd used all the canned potatoes... To the point where coffee was being rationed. 74 dayes since the last time the boat had ventilated with surface air...

When we surfaced, and fresh stores were finally onloaded... I ate a bell pepper. Like it was an apple. Fresh, not cooked, not even sliced. It was goooood.
Cool

When I finally got liberty (Nucs - First to depart, last to arrive), I went to the barracks where a six pack of beer had been waiting me for Lo! These many months! - drank an ice-cold beer and ate a cold can of refried beans.
Straight from the can.
