Well this is the first "Too many subs will kill Eve" post ive ever seen. Too bad its from NickyYo, now it will always be tainted in my book.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Would the game become unplayable? i think it would. With CCP being in bed with Sony could Sony force EvE to be a multiple server game just like WoW? thus killing what makes eve special.

I think CCP should be carefull tailoring the game to much for carebears because such a great success of new subscriptions could actually change EvE to something bad. With EvE being on one server i think the hardcore of eve is what balances the server population out with current technology limits.

p.s i still think war decks need looking at!

Let me see if I follow.

CCP should not try to attract carebears to teh game, becuase if they do, the PVP fights will grow too large.

Really? That is the argument?

Nah, only the Devs can destroy EvE by not fixing things like POS's Roll

I would like to see a separate "shard" for everybody pushing leet PVP e-peenery to get automatically shunted into. That server will not have clones, so when you die, you stay dead, and everybody talking themselves up about how hard-core they are can get to actually prove it.

I'd like to see them create another shard and move all the crybaby carebears there so I don't have to listen to them ***** about playing with other people all the time.

I also +1 to the guy that said you need to go play X3. Please do it now.

I don't mind the PVPers. They are entertaining when they make assumptions about where I am in the few times they tried to catch me in nullsec.

It's the people forgetting this is just a stinking game that need their own server. Especially those who get offended at the idea of being forced to only put up with each other, as if that would hurt their killboard or something.

If they are all terrible posters like you; maybe.

Then again, EVE has survived both SA and Reddit invasions. I think we'll be fine.

I'd be more worried about a short term rise in player subscriptions, say 6 months to a year, then a drop off.... and all the layoffs at CCP that would almost certainly follow.

And I really don't worry about being invaded by another online community. THEYYYYYYYY'RE HEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRE !

As for "pretending", I don't have to.

I remember what lag used to be like in vast fleet fights -- or Jita on a Saturday afternoon.

When I first read the title of the thread, I didnt see the word 'increase', couldnt see why an overweight player would destroy EVE Smile

I'm not saying CCP should change the game into WoW, but I'm pretty sure to the top brass in CCP subsciber numbers are serious business.

Businesses that don't constantly try to get new customers stagnate and die (or go F2P).

Eve online already is a multiserver mmo, there is a chinese server called serenity.
So when there is reason to make a chinese server it might be that with a increase in subscription number ccp might make more seperate servers.

I hope they dont however they are working with sony and that basicly never has been good to any game in gaming history.

Is this true? I'm seriously asking, if so what examples as that seems interesting and highly Machiavellian.

EVE's been around 10 years.

if a gigantic influx hasn't happened by now, it aint never gonna happen.

and i'm thankful, there's already too many players in EVE as it is.

I would say that every MMO that has had a large and sudden spike in users (usually at launch) has crashed hard.

The interesting thing is what happens to the MMOs that spike some time after they're launched. Which is approximately none.

The spike-at-launch-then-fade-away thing is easily explained by the novelty of the new game, which quickly wears off when people realise it's a very poor WoW clone.

That is what i'm saying yes, large fights increases the posbilities of multiple eve servers.

CCP is finding more ways to reduce the load per player in large fights, Intel is finding ways to make faster chips, and everyone is finding ways to more effectively break up computing tasks into parallel or "distributed" processing models. Large fights in EVE will not increase the possibility of sharding the EVE universe.

At the very worst, large fights will end up spawning two large fights as the reinforcements for one heavily time-dilated fight simply can't get into the target system and start fighting next door. Which is actually a good thing. More fights means more ships getting blown up faster.

The only reasons that there is a Chinese server are the Chinese Government and legal system, Serenity also runs a different client than Tranquility, I think they're about 2 expansions behind. CCP would probably rather not be developing 2 clients and would probably be extremely happy if they could legally move the Serenity population to Tranquility. That way Eve would truly be a single shard virtual universe that spans the entire planet.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Highsec is already pretty full as is. Doubling or tripling the number of online users could be harmful.

Lots of space in nullsec you say? Ha ha ha, right. Good one. Lets go live in nullsec where a super coalition will WTFROFLSTOMP us out within days of moving in. Not because of territorial disputes or financial gain but more about relieving boredom.
