In nulsec voice comms the "-" ,usually referred to as "dash" is called "tac" instead mainly because it's easier to hear over comms.

Of course, this leaks in real life where I refer to hypenated things as tac, so I get funny looks.

Adding 'K' after numbesr to refer to multiple zeros (100K for example). Apparently that isn't a common thing in the US.

IME, it's entirely common. May be a regional thing, though. Of course, I've lived in most of the major regions, and have found it in all of them... So you may be dealing with an isolated regioin, yourself.

I work on Concord Pike... Yes, it messes with my head.

It's perfectly natural to me, but that's because I took an electronics course a ways back, and it sorta stuck.

k = kilo, ergo "thousand".

You guys are confusing the hell out of me. I bet your irlsec clones don't even have implants. Mine has two limited occular filters, sits in his CQ when AFK. I usually just grind L3 missions for 8 hours before I jump back into another JC. What the hell have you guys been smoking? You are all making 0.0 sense.

Last new year seen this old rather frail looking guy pushing a trolley packed with booze, remarked to my mate that he was a clear gank waiting to happen.

Gf isn't best keen on "docking permission requested"
yup you all heard "docking permission denied" didn't you.

And if it was after an arguement, you would need to wait for that aggression timer to run down I guess! P

I accidentally called an elevator an acceleration gate once... luckily the people i was with also played eve and realised i meant elevator.

which is worse, me using a completely wrong name, or the fact that the others understood me?

When my math professor said:

"Null means empty."

I busted out of laughing thinking of the EvE forums.

Everyone in the class looked at me weird.

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

I keep trying to use words like Bistot and Kernite in Scrabble.

Sometimes I call my girlfriend by her Eve toon name in public. Her parents look at us sideways when it happens.
