Could a massive player increase destroy eve?

Lets pretend that the online number count gets to 100k and fights of over 5k in one system happen,

Would the game become unplayable? i think it would. With CCP being in bed with Sony could Sony force EvE to be a multiple server game just like WoW? thus killing what makes eve special.

I think CCP should be carefull tailoring the game to much for carebears because such a great success of new subscriptions could actually change EvE to something bad. With EvE being on one server i think the hardcore of eve is what balances the server population out with current technology limits.

p.s i still think war decks need looking at!

I would say that every MMO that has had a large and sudden spike in users (usually at launch) has crashed hard.

probably because every new mmo is just like the one their customers came from, but doesn't offer anything but another grind, except it's a grind that has to be done with **** gear/skills and therefore every one just goes back to the welfare state of mmo's... wow.

let's face it, why bother grinding in a new mmo when you can log in to wow and be given everything for free?

kinda why i like this game, there's no real grinding involved. making isk doesn't feel as tedious as obtaining currency/gear in other games, even as a miner.

I dunno about the hardware, but too many new people clamoring "give me free stuff I don't have to work for" and holding their 15 bucks a month over CCPs head would lead to some really really bad things IMO.

To me, one of the best things about EVE is that it's hard core nature (mostly!) keeps away people I very much would not like to play with........

Griefers, scam artists, spies, playa haters and blood thirsty warmongers living for no higher purpose than to extract real tears from real people who DARe play the same space ship game as they do.....Them I like and can deal with LOL It's the FlowerPower X-Box live mountain dew swilling 16 year olds who would scream "THATS NOT FAIR" and file a petition because someone blow up their ship when the jumped into low sec, THAT's what i can't handle.

Just say NO to more subs! NO I say!

You obviously never played when EVE couldn't handle the fights that it has now.

Now they'll not multishard it, no Sony can't force another company to do something with its intellectual property and no, having 100k people wouldn't bother eve (our record of online users is fairly close to 70k iirc).

lets face it; most of that 100k will stay in high sec, never leave high sec, and it won't be an issue for big null sec fights at all anyway.

I would like to see a separate "shard" for everybody pushing leet PVP e-peenery to get automatically shunted into. That server will not have clones, so when you die, you stay dead, and everybody talking themselves up about how hard-core they are can get to actually prove it.

Or you can go play X3 and enjoy the single player game you crave so much.

Yes becuase those kind of players ( massive care bears ) will get bored after 6 months and move to other games , but game will change to fit them.

It would be very interesting to see and maybe participate in a hard core destruction derby where all the losers lose everything and have to start from scratch.
There would have to be some kind of truly awesome reward for the one survivor in order for months of grinding to be put on the line.
Especially if it was not a 1 vs 1 type deal.

I'd like to see them create another shard and move all the crybaby carebears there so I don't have to listen to them ***** about playing with other people all the time.

I also +1 to the guy that said you need to go play X3. Please do it now.

Hey you're back, marra.

It'd be fine with 100k active. Half of EVE is empty as it is and more people would probably hide into wormholes.

TiDi is on standby is case things get tasty and the extra subs would mean more hardware.

Let me see if I follow.

CCP should not try to attract carebears to teh game, becuase if they do, the PVP fights will grow too large.

Really? That is the argument?

That is what i'm saying yes, large fights increases the posbilities of multiple eve servers.
Greedy sony will prob buy all CCP's shares if the suscription number goes up, then eve is doomed.

Depends how they play, I wouldn't mind seeing the population double. If they bring better corporate warfare in high sec. Make low sec enjoyable and all of null sec is engulfed in flames of war again.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.
