Have any of you guys had one of those moments where the vocabulary used in EvE Online leaked into your RL associations without you realizing it? And they just look at you like "what the freak is this guy talking about?"

I had such a moment yesterday... I was helping a friend and his wife move into a new apartment, and we had to carry this super heavy entertainment center to the sidewalk. Seriously that thing was HEAVY. And it was very slow progress. So I made the statement "Looks like we're slowboating this thing to the curb!" Or something to that effect.

Do any of you have any similar stories? Funny stories, embarrassing stories, stupid stories, I want to hear them all! A lot of you have probably played EvE longer than I have so a lot of you probably have some better stories!

Getting confused between how wealthy you are in game and how wealthy you are in real life is a pretty common one.

i.e. Wanting to buy things in ISK.

Happens so frequently that some of the phrases have become common amongst my non-EVE-playing cow-orkers.

Especially frequent are the hallway conversation 'bubble camps.'

I was reading an article about how polar bears will wait by seal breathing holes for the seals to surface so they can hook them out of the water and eat them.

I looked straight at my wife and said "Polar Bears are gate campers".

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

They're also cloaky gankers.

Speaking of which, we have a manager whom is well known for going 'cloaky' as she prowls the cubes. Yeah, she's short and hard to see.

I always have to check myself when buying things in rl because my EVE "oh I'll just liquidate some assets" mentality doesn't fix a couple bottles at the club...

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

Glasgow, walking through the city in the evening, certain dodgy streets have caused me to opt for the high sec route avoiding "gatecamps"

Last new year seen this old rather frail looking guy pushing a trolley packed with booze, remarked to my mate that he was a clear gank waiting to happen.

Gf isn't best keen on "docking permission requested"
yup you all heard "docking permission denied" didn't you.

I was talking to a friend about my business trip to London on Monday and told him it was annoying that Balham is so many "jumps" from Paddington on the underground.

I got a funny look.

That makes far too much sense to NOT use.

I work in at an inbound call center. When I see a sudden spike in the call queue for callers waiting for an agent I'll sometimes say out loud "Spike in local!" This always gets a weird look from my cubemates.

Not so much in game lingo...but I have noticed a proliferation of forum speech into my everyday conversations, which makes customer service really interesting.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Me and my brother both play EVE and sometimes have a beer session talking about the game and i went to the bar and asked for "2 pints of quafe, please" the barman replied "sorry we don't serve that drink".
