I'm on a few more trackers that weren't included in the initial torrent, just because. You're welcome to add to them as well.

Aside from that, there's not a lot of requests. I'm not often going above 305 kB/s upload, if that helps.

Check that you're allowing DHT (Preferences > BitTorrent), add those trackers, and test if stopping the other seeds increases the upload of our EVE torrent. If it does then you might want to increase the allowed upload slots, total allowed connections, and check your bandwidth cap in the uTorrent settings (Preferences > Bandwidth)

Edit: Thanks for helping out, guys. CCP: There's a lot of people making use of this torrent and I bet many of them would be happy if there was something sanctioned or official (especially since I can't keep this up, bandwidth limits in the US)

You only need to download the repair tool. It is quite small.

To quote the OP, " tried to run the repair each time they fail,"

Because his connection is unreliable, the Repair tools fails to download the missing/corrupted files just as the normal client will.

Until recently the repair tool was broken. I bug reported it. It worked fine EXCEPT for the launcher, which can be downloaded separately.

I also checked that the repair tool now works, before posting.

OP might choose to give it another try.

I would encourage him to try as well, but I want to inform you that his connection issues will have the same impact on the repair tool as it does on the online downloader. If the Repair Tool loses connection it has to start completely over again (I tested this just now), which means that even if it successfully downloads one file of thousands it still has to restart to get the rest. It times out, start it over.

At least with a torrent the protocol is designed to automate the gathering, collecting, and requesting process.

I felt 4 meg files were safe enough, but changing at this point isn't feasible anyway. About the size of an mp3 music file.

Oh, and if you're deployed overseas, dontcha have better things to do than play vidya games? Blink

No not really, spaceships are a lot more important!

I can get an mp3 in a few hours now at least, with a steady connection.

The patch was small enough that I'm unconcerned and not about to drop all of our seeders. Still waiting for an update from our OP and hope he's safe.

I think that the worst thing CCP ever did was remove the option to download the files out of the launcher (from the website). I have a program that speeds up downloads and I could download a patch in about 10 mins, now I'm struggling to get it down in 2 hours.

i too was having issues here in afganistan. if you have an uso or mwr the connection there was alot better to download only (they wont let you play online games there or run steam). alot of things were corrupted so i had to do a clean install and even that was corrupted. so at least i had an install path and random files inside. try downloading the repair tool manually and putting it in the install folder and after a few trips to the mwr it was complete, and yes it did do auto resume. once all is said and done make a copy of the eve folder and put it on a external or backup folder. or if your at sharana ill just let you make a copy. good luck

after the repair tool does its index it should resume where it left off although a couple times it would freeze up i would keep trying at it and eventually it will get completed. make sure to make a backup because me and my buddies would fail to load up the launcher so we would just re install the whole thing from an external and it just goes through the patch update process then it gtg again. and also fyi the 30k connection was just fine to play the game normally although inventory and market are a bit slower i quickly found out this game doesnt need much speed to play but i suggest the 150k is you want use team speak

I'm currently in Afghanistan at the moment. My client messed up and the repair tool wouldn't work. My internet is extremely slow and I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to post (or host) a torrent of the client for me. I can't seem to find any and these links have no seeds.

Would be much appreciated, thanks.

Alright,

To OP and all my fellow Afghan vacationers. I too am in the same situation and here is my solution and my experience.

1. Ensure you have the top tier internet access for your provider. (most likely sniper hill)

2. Download Steam client

3. Download the Eve Online demo (approx download time 6 days)

4. Login and let it update (an hour or two)

5. Login and Play. (demo is still full version if you have active account)

Notes

* Lag performance for mining is acceptable and hardly noticeable
** Lag performance for ratting is acceptable and hardly noticeable
*** Lag performance for PVP is unacceptable. Opponents will have approximately 1-2 seconds advantage in the decision making process.

I do not normally use steam to play EVE but I forgot to download it before leaving. Steam was the best method to ensure the download didn't get corrupted during setup.

I've been playing consistently without any major issues. Good luck to you all.

I used to have Sniper Hill when I was on the bigger FOBs, like Sharana and Bagram. Now I'm on a smaller one and it has a different service called Mikrotik Hotspot. It's even slower believe it or not, and I can't even get Steam to connect like I used to with Sniper Hill even though I have the "Premium" service.

I will continue to try to get Steam to connect and go that route if possible, thanks.
