I have a ton of stuff that have an estimated value of 200k+ but actually sell for 5k-, is this part of the faction warfare exploit or do they actually sell for that much somewhere else?

It's a universal average so the region you're trying to sell in likely isn't a very popular system for that item.

I've found universal average EXTREMELY unreliable for selling stuff in your region. Use the market browser.

You could also use the EVE Central Market site to see what those modules are selling for in the busy trade hubs.

The estimated value is usually within a reasonable range of what the item is worth. However, remember that you're not selling stuff to NPCs for some agreed-upon price, you're selling to other players. If you can right click -> sell something, that means that another player has agreed to buy that item at your location for that price (the price you get will be the highest among all possible buy orders).

If there's not a ton of competition then all of the buyers may just put up orders for a pittance, well below what the item is actually worth, so they can get virtually free merchandise. That's why it's generally good to sell your stuff in a trade hub (More competition for buy orders = higher prices), and if you still don't like the buy price, you can set up your own sell order.

There's usually at least one trader in the local area who puts up ridiculously low buy orders in the hopes of getting cheap loot. Some of your alternatives are:

1. If you think the product will move within a reasonable time period, you can set your own price. Check the price history to see if the item actually trades in the local region, and check competing sell orders.

2. Find a good market on http://eve-central.com/ and haul it to a regional hub or Jita.

3. Reprocess and sell the minerals.

I sell in jita generally, and it's not just buy orders, I check the market details. I'll check eve-central then and see if I can find the hot spots.

In addition to all the above advice, I'll add something I found a little while ago:

http://www.eve-market-guide.com/

In the loot refining, you can get a breakdown, based on some parameters of what to sell by sell-order, buy-order, refine or trash. My first haul go round with it seem (unscientifically) to net me 15-20% more. That said, didn't keep a spreadsheet on everything.

I had a pile of stuff, so I went through it and then used Red Frog to get the stuff to Jita. Should you decide to use it, I would suggest using it throughout your stockpiling and not to go through it all at the end. Very tedious with several hundred items.

If you want to sell in the general range of the estimated value, fly to your nearest market hub (Jita, Dodixie, Amarr, ... I wanna say Hek but I don't think that's right. Someone can tell you the Minnie one) and drop all your crap there.

Note that this usually isn't worth your time, I know I only take the trouble if something is valuable but rare, with the only buy order in my region being like 1 isk and the game average being ten+ million.
