How important are voice comms in W-space?

We too use voice comms on any WH ops (we don't live in one) since the probability of pvp is high. We pretty much use it everywhere outside of hisec when not at war. I generally go by the rule not being on voice comms is ok for people in non-critical Fleet roles, as long as I can get a co-FC to broadcast. Sometimes numbers are more important then perfect execution.

True story:

One day when we had little activity in our WH, a group of miners came in and started scanning. We had 2 or 3 grav sites at that time. One of our members was semi-afk in the WH. He noticed his local tab flash. One of their miners said something like, "Wow, look at all the good ore! This is going to be fun."

It was a good day. Shortly thereafter, we bagged ourselves a couple hulks, an orca and sent the miners back to hisec via the pod express.

What is... This feeling...? May it be what humans call sadness?

No really, poor fellows.
