One day, while watching battleclinic I noticed a rush of kestrels killmails... Then I said to my self: 'Kestrels cannot be that bad!'

I opened EFT and shortly I had a fit ready. Almost cap stable, scoring high at everything I was aiming for (speed, agility, range, etc). I took it out for a spin. Got a couple of kills. Then I had a couple of looses.

The postmortem analysis revealed a minor flaw in construction which was corrected shortly. I was no longer 'almost' cap stable, but I had greater tackling range. Also my tactics improved a bit and minor adjustments were made to client settings.

Then I took it to the next level. Got 10 similar fits. Started running them and frapsing. Pirate YARRRR!

And so the Kestrel Diaries begin!

Not yet. But if there will be a sequel (I still have kestrels left) I would try a totally different style. But Condor might be a nice pick for another sequel. The sequel of the sequel.

As we speak, the final 3 episodes are uploading...

It was a fun ride and I never regret starting it. As I sum up, I can say that:

  • I destroyed 17 ships (I got help for one) and I lost 11 kestrels + 3 expensive pods (last one on my way back to Jita, after the diary ended, server lagged Oops)
  • I lost 537 millions ISK and I destroyed 262 millions is (oh, those 3 pods...)
  • I gathered loot that gave me back around 100 millions (oh, those 3 pods...)


And the obvious conclusions :

  • Never pvp with expensive pods - 2x+3 implants maximum.
  • Always stick to the plan - do what you know best!
  • Avoid obvious traps.
  • Always wear off your suspect status before going to high sec.
  • Whatever you don't kill fast when you have your change, will come back and kill you.
  • If you're in for the numbers (k/d ratio, etc) don't! Have fun! Loose your ship. Loose your pod. Loose your ISK. But whatever you do: Don't loose your spirit!


I am planning to start the sequel, so stay tunned! Hopefully will have a lot more fun! Pirate YARRR!!!

I would suggest you either stop using implants or get better at warping out after fights..

Losing 11 frigs and 500+ mill kinda voids the whole "frigs are cheep to fly" point.

Actually, the frigs were cheap. It was the pod losses that made him lose the isk war.
