If it isn't broke don't fix it is the reply I would say to that.

Many things over the years in all aspects of life have been changed when the previous version of it was not necessarily "broken"

Something doesn't have to be broken to be improved upon and just because something new has some initial problems is not a reason not to do it.

But wouldn't that stifle creativity and innovation? This is not broken either, just different... with new features missing in the old forums. You'll be fine in a few days, no worries.

I always wonder if people who say such things still use horse-drawn carriage because why switch to a car if it isn't broken?

Trying not to be negative for my first post on these new forums.
Ok, I got it.

The new forums suck less than CQ and the Nex store.

See, I actually found something nice-ish to say.

God, I was hoping they would do something about the look from the last iteration, too much wasted space, makes it harder to read :(

They're OK for posting I guess, but the waste of vertical screen space is outrageous. I think I'll get RSI from using the scroll button...

…and it's the missing features that people think is the “broken” part, especially since they're quite clearly supported by the new forums and/or trivially fixed.

As for “a few days”, I don't think people put much weight into that kind of claim since we're dealing with a company who is pretty much defined by the word Soon™… Blink

If it works, improve it, caveman.

Granted, it has yet to be proven that this new forum actually is an improvement, but still.

So you are saying people are not going to get used to the new forums? Because that's what those "a few days" were aimed at...
Pretty pessimistic if you ask me.
Me, I don't care either way, forums are forums, as long as they let me do what I want to do (read and write stuff, mainly) I'll be fine.

Only thing that kinda irks me is that the character portraits seem larger. Not sure if seeing my fellow co-posters in greater detail is a good thing... :P

No, I'm saying that the missing features and functionality that make the forums broken won't re-appear in “a few days”, and no, I don't think people will “get used to” not being able to do what they've been doing for years (and what they'll continue to do in other forums). They'll just accept that it's missing and continue to be irked by its absence.
