CSM Summit minutes: Ship Balancing

Something in the minutes really stirred me up:

"Elise stated that the relationship between AFs and T1 was a good indicator, but added that people are a
bit miffed now because often T1 is better than T2 – which just seems counter-intuitive. Ytterbium
conceded that this was true, but that it wasn’t going to be the case forever. Ytterbium added that T1 were
not a finished product and noted that some small changes could be made to them in the future to ensure
they are properly balanced. "

The problem with that is for people who make T2 ships to sell. If T1 are better than the T2, then whole pipelines for production are useless until/if T2 are made desirable again. This change doesn't just impact the balance of the ship themselves. Remember, this is EVE - If a ship is on the market, it is because someone built it.

Can't really be helped to be honest.

They are overhauling the entirety of the ships in EvE, so some disruption is to be expected. It should be worked out eventually, though I do agree it might not be a bad idea to rebalance T2 frigates and Cruisers before moving to battlecruisers and battleships.

They set out to re-balance every ship in the entire game. Obviously, that will take a while. So we either accept some temporary disruption and get on with things, or we leave it all alone until it's completely finished two years from now. Which is probably impossible anyway because of the lack of ongoing feedback. It sucks for t2 builders for sure, but it's a lump we have to take for a little while if we want ships to be balanced.
