What is the longest you can hit someone from (not a noob that expects the basic fits.) Like all decked out with whatever weapons and whatever ship and fit. What is the longest you can get consistently.

Dual 1000mm railgun optimal range: 96 km, falloff: 48km

Skills: +25% to both

=> 180 km

Officer-level tracking computer w/optimal range script: +40%ish

Apply enough to max out stacking penalties: *3ish on the total bonus = +120%

Do similar with falloff.

So... about 400 km with a 50% miss chance, or 264 km with 100% miss chance.

Side note: you should get familiar enough with Eve Wiki and so on to do this yourself, or this game's gonna be rough on you.

EDIT: Also, note that actually doing this would be really bloody silly. Even sniper boats usually don't range out more than 150km.

Even with sensor boosters out the ass with range scripts the furthest you can lock is about 250km

Battleships using the largest of their "range guns" can achieve this with using T2 range ammo and some TEs.

It's not very hard for an apoc with T2 tachyons and aurora ammo to do this.

There is, apparently, a hard-coded maximum targetting range of 250 km. So even though, technically, a ship can have an optimal + falloff on the guns that's longer than that, you can't shoot what you can't target.

At long ranges you also get into the concept of "grid". The "grid" is the volume of space you're in, and everything in it appears in your overview. Has variable radius, but once a ship gets far enough from you, it disappears from the overview and goes into the next grid. You can actually fly to that edge and be 2 km away from that ship that's in the next grid and you won't see it in the overview or be able to target it.

The hard limit for players is 249 km.

POS defenses when manned by a player gunner are not subject to this limit. Example: Minmatar control towers with large artillery have optimal+falloff = 450+490.5 km, so effectively 940.5 km with Depleted Uranium XL (mid-range ammo), though typically EMP XL or Phased Plasma XL short-range ammo is used (300+490.5 = 790.5 km).

I can target paint in a Vigil at 200km, which is also the limit of its lock range (with my skills) if that helps. ;P
