What sort of utilities do you like on your covops scanning frigs? Of course it needs to be cloaky, have probes & still maintain enough speed to make slow boating bearable but what else do you put on there? Tackle? E-war? Tank?

Depends if you will use it for anything else than probing/scouting or not. If you go solo tackle/e-war doesn't make sense - you are painfully squishy to do anything against whatever you could point. If you scout for a gang I would rather just act as a cloaked warpin for real tacklers (don't forget to warp out after they initiate warp to you to avoid being decloaked).

I put a longpoint and a hob II in mine. All other scouts must die!

It's a dedicated scanning boat. We have better engagement scouts than me. But if I wanted to go tripping down a chain or something what have you found useful in a mid slot mod?

Tackle and a gun or drone. Nothing better than catching a noctis or hauler, shooting it and waiting for the cavalry to arrive only to be ambushed and bushwhacked.
No cavalry? Cov Ops kill!

Try put in: tacle ,web and cap recharger.

Tacle because always you can find something interesting to catch for cavalry :)
Web is always useful to use on catching targets or to faster warp your own orcas or freighters
Cap rechargers or cap boosters because somethimes your warps will be really long and its not funny when your cap is empty near some targets ;)

Depending on the race (number of medium slots-low slots) i always try to fit 2x warp core stabilizers in lowslots Roll and for some extra inertia i prefer the nanofiber internal structure instead of the inertia stabilizer (bonus in signature is bad) incase i manage to escape a hictor bubble before it is launched .In medium slots i use a mwd and some inactive hardeners or passive hardener. The problem with covert frigs is that if you get caught there is no way to survive :P Another option is to fit some EHP in order to survive a bomb from a stealth bomber if you have a habit of cloaking very close to the wh while probing the system .If i remember correctly you can fit an ECM burst module but you dont have capacitor for a second cycle of the module so its like a gambling one shot luck to ecm burst your way out of trouble Big smile

We have a rule that all scouts must have tackle on it. For those moments where you see a hauler/noctis on the field and you don't want to be that guy who misses an easy gank opportunity for your buddies.

Personally, i use a battle anathema.

Cheers,

scram, web, gun, mwd, shield booster, cap booster.
MAPC, rest of the lows are nanos unless you have covops 4 in which case you need a copro.

Use a cloaky-scanny T3. That way you can not only find things... you can KILL them as well!

The only thing i hate about cloaky t3s is the time it takes to scout a new system out. With a cov ops you can zip about hither and thither like a little fly the hostiles are trying to swat Shocked

And stick 2 fingers up when you escape there bubble camp Lol

Ever since my innocent w-space hauler got caught by a cheetah ... and killed by said cheetah plus proteus buddy ... my scanner doods have carried some sort of offensive capability. They've never yet had the opportunity to use it, but it's there.

scram, web, gun, mwd, shield booster, cap booster - as mentioned above, altho I tend not to bother with the DPS part, expecting to have a DPS ship near enough to wherever my little cheetah might be wanting to tackle somebody.

This can be fit to your covops and still have it maintain maximal scanning capability. So ya lose nothing and gain a little flexibiliy. Otherwise, if getting around or getting there is the highest priority, i fit for travel .... nano, dual-prop, cap recharg, and sometimes a stab (ya, I confess).

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Long point, scram, cap booster. I used to use long point and web but kept losing targets that were warp core stabbed. An hour after trying my new fit with multi points I caught an orca with two stabs, and I haven't bothered with any other fits since. (damage control and nanos in the low, mwd and sse in mids)

This, because sitting there in your cov ops, you never know what's going to pop through that hole.Blink

After alot of different fits i've grown to love this particular buzzard fit. It's main weakness is the low cloaked speed I'd say, but I can live with that. It has 4 points so it can scram DST:s, and stabbed orcas rolling wormholes. It is especially useful if the backup you might have consist of only one or two ships without enough points. The ship scanner is awesome for those moments when you catch something expensive and have time for a ransom. And finally the sensor booster, to have a fast tackle if you are camping a wormhole, so you don't have to switch out any ships for fast tackle if your potential backup doesn't have it.

This fit is used in very small gang scenarios, and for situations where you always have a backup that have all this, it might not prove AS useful.
