Frame Rate Drop Due To Gas Clouds

CPU: Intel Core i7 2630QM @ 2.00GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
Graphics: 1023MB GeForce GT 540M

Most of the time my eve client runs smoothly at 75fps with interval immediate selected, and 60fps with Interval One.

But when im near a gas cloud like the ones that occur in forsaken hubs it drops to 20-25fps and occurs with any graphics setting configuration. Can anyone else confirm something similar?

Maybe CCP you could lower the poly count in the cloud... I mean its not exactly shooting at me so it can look a little less cloudy without me caring :).

Not just you, in grav sites the clouds there make it seem as if I'm watching still cameras photos go by, haven't tried adjustment in the esc screen yet, maybe lowering quality in there will help.

You can zoom out alot which is only a small help but atleast it's something.

Yeah i get that in the clouds as well, spiny lights dont spin they sort of jump around like a picture. my computer should be able to cope with it fine, but it doesnt, i can watch 15 titans shooting a station but i cant watch me shooting 3 rats :P its rediculous

This was zillion times reported, petitioned, bug reported. But CCP finds other stuff to work on.Twisted.Even stated that after their work on clouds they made it worse, but nothing. This is just one of the feature Retribution expansion, oops Nerfbat expansion. No more multiboxing in missions. CCP doesn't want you to run more then one toon to the mission pocket.

Well ill just keep posting it on here until they do something about it, or ban me from the forums :P

And that obviously isn't going very well lol, and if youve got another corpie in the mission that is essentially multiboxing if you both know what your shooting and when to shoot it hehe

can confirm its still a problem, Im running Eve on a i7 with geforce card, client runs great with 70 fps during heavy battles, but as soon I hit a cloud the framerate goes into a nosedive into single digits. Running multiple clients becomes a problem then.

only way I can "solve" this is too zoom all the way out.

All drivers are updated to the latest versions. It would be nice if CCP could fix this, or at least gives us a option to turn off clouds.

I agree. This is an issue for me as well.
My system isn't the best out there, but I've played many games without much issue performance wise.

My normal FPS in EvE is fairly good, but some of the effects have serious performance issues with many people's systems.

For example, when viewing gas clouds (and lately warp disruption bubbles), my system goes form 75FPS, to 9FPS and lower.

EvE Devs should really take into consideration the minimum/recommended specs to run the game, and add options to disable or reduce such effects.

I'd also suggest that they test the game on several 'low end' (minimum spec) machines using consumer hardware so that they notice these issues before a release is pushed out. Also, for choosing parts, I'd recommend using a site such as Newegg, or the EU equivalent, to determine what hardware is purchased the most, and build accordingly.
