CCP, why the survey?

I am seeing about a dozen stickied threads in the feedback forums re: Retribution. Some are REALLY long, with tons of feedback.
Yet you now prompt us to fill out a survey asking us our opinion about Retribution.

The only reason I can see for such a survey is that CCP has recognized that these forums may not be the most accurate gauge of the player base's satisfaction / dis-satisfaction with the game, and the dev's/designers can't be bothered to wade through all the propaganda in any given thread to mine out the actual feedback.

If that is the case, thank you.

I wish they would do this more often.

In and out of game.
Like through the mail system.

erm, ratio mails sent/responses might support your comment however, knowing how many alts some players can have and answer with I don't think it's the best tool or at least the most accurate in it's current form.

Which is essentially what I said, the forums are not the best gauges of the players opinion/views.

I would be very curious to know what percentage of the player base reads/posts to these forums.

You'd be surprised to listen some vocal comments about this and guys telling they spent "x" time doing with their 20+ alts.

They are, im not entirely sure on how the internal feedback monitoring goes on CCP´s side so i wont comment on it. But what i know for certain is that they do gather feedback of forum threads and use it.

This is the typical myopic view of the forum warriors who haven't realized that they are a minority amongst players. Personally I can't imagine playing EVE without reading the forums, but I know that's not true for most players.

I can tell you a lot of things in a chat channel or on a forum, but that does not mean that i really did the things i told you. And im in no way saying that i dont think there are people filling out the surveys x times, but i do think its not a big group.

Anywhere forum are not relevant to have a proper feedback from the playerbase.
Only a small minority read and post. The majoirty of players are more intersted in playing :)

I got 2 email serveys in 7 years.
The emails don't reach every EVE player anymore than the forums do.

The EVE mail does though, yet you guys don't utilize it.

Indeed.

But you can understand also this little group of whatever number it is on it's own might have more weight than the simple guy posting once, some times a couple numbers are enough to change things my problem is and will always be with wrong numbers for whatever reason that shouldn't be one in the first place.

But whatever, we're here just to try to have some fun ! (and I personally do have a lot reading this forum)

When you want quantitative feedback, you use a survey.

When you want specific qualitative feedback, you enter into a dialogue; including forums.

Everything isn't black and white you see.

Basically anything ingame or during login is better. I seldom check the account e-Mail.

Remove standings and insurance.

I was actually thinking that as well.

I would fill these things out if I ever actually got them, but I never frigging get them.

People usually fill out 1 survey, whereas other people usually spam GD 10 times.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
