Alright. So I currently drive an Apocalypse with all T1 Fittings, L. Tachyons, etc. However, it occured to me during a L1 security mission that my Apocalypse was actually losing to frigates due to their fast nature. I have 7 tachyons and use Radio L's as my frequency crystal of choice. However, each time I shot at a little rat frigate, I missed. So community, my question to you is: Can you recommend me a ship that has power (Preferably a BS, just sayin') but enough tracking speed to shoot down smaller ships such as frigates? Plus, could you recommend a build for that ship? I'm rookie-ish. Only played EVE for a month or so.

Current funds: 140,000,000 ISK in wallet
Armageddon with 2 Energy Grid rigs worth 40m each - Would put on contract for about 240m
Cargo in station worth Approx. 50m
Total:430,000,000 ISK.
I would prefer not to spend it all :)

Why are you even using a BS for lvl 1 missions? A destroyer would be much better.

But for lvl 4 missions, an Apoc or armageddon is perfectly fine. Get a set of small drones to clear out the frigs and otherwise just blap the frigs while they are still at long range.

Big guns can't track very well at close range. Use drones or keep your distance from the rats.

And yeah... why ARE you using a battleship to run a level 1 mission?

I love how OP uses a sledge hammer to change the oil in his scooter. Awesomesauce.

Oh, and obvious troll is obvious.

I am using an Apoc myself, too. You should really get rid of the Tachs, especially when you don't have AWU on a decent level.
First of all you should train your armor skills up to the point where you can fit T2 large armor repairer and hardeners.
Second, you should then focus on training for T2 large mega pulses, they benefit to a great extent from the Apoc's range bonus.
Use 8x Meta4 beams instead of 7x Tach, you will end up with a lot easier fitting.
Consider something like this for L4 Sansha/Blood missions:

[Apocalypse, Apoc L4]
Imperial Navy Large Armor Repairer
Armor EM Hardener II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II

Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Hobgoblin II x5
Hammerhead II x5

Note that this is not capstable and is intended as such. For most L4 you won't need a permatank anyway. Feel free to drop a TC for a propulsion mod if you like. The faction repper is due to PG issues, if you pick a T2 repper, you may either use an implant or an ancillary current router.

OP, drop the BS for lvl 1 missions, it won't work due to massive tracking issues. Big guns don't hit small/fast targets very well. Get a coercer then use an Omen for lvl 2 and Harb for lvl 3.

This should be able to handle ANY lvl mission without tracking issue :)

Well, I can't remember whether L1's only got deadspace missions or not, but I decided to help anyway. Some people just don't know any better and do mistakes, so why not at least try help them? Smile

Non-sense. If you're going to say something like that at least qualify your statement.

Use an Omen for lvl 1's and 2's

Apoc should be overkill once you hit lvl 3's

and once again, why a battleship for lvl 1's since you cant even go through the gates, I seriously have no clue why you would post something like this on the forums.

I expected better from the OP who looks like Professor Severus Snape from Harry Potter. Lol

At least after he died because of snake bites he find comfort by being reincarnated in a kingdom under heaven.

I cannot imagine a more appropriate faction for him to be in actually.

Ignoring the possible troll...

Your available budget is more than sufficient to the task.

The Coercer is probably the best ship for the task given your probable skill limitations and experience. In many ways it behaves similarly to the Apoc, and so much of your Apoc experience should be transferable.

I would personally choose a Dual Light Beam fitting and, given your budget and the likely use you’ll get out of the ship I’d suggest the Anode Particle Stream (Meta 3) for their increased range.
I would suggest carrying Multifrequency, Gamma, X-Ray, Ultraviolet, Standard, Microwave and Radio crystals - the damage potential of the crystals goes down as the range increases but you will often want to use range where possible both to reduce the time you spend moving into range and to reduce the damage being applied to your ship. Keep in mind also that the capacitor cost of each shot increases with each step you take away from Standard, if your capacitor is under strain, particularly if you’re firing a lot (taking down a stationary structure for example) you may find that stepping down a little (from Multi’s to Gammas for example) has a minimal effect on your damage but a noticeable effect on your capacitor.

A 1MN Afterburner would be my first choice of midslot, and you may well find that the named version is not only better but also cheaper than the T1. Having not flown a Coercer since the rebalancing I don’t have an immediate second midslot (which was added recently) though my first choice for PVE would probably be a Stasis Webifier, you may find that a Sensor Booster is more useful however if your lock range is shorter than your Radio Optimal.

In the lows a Small Armour Repairer is the place to start, I would then have used an Energised Adaptive Nano Membrane, a Damage Control and a Heatsink (or Tracking Enhancer, I can’t remember whether the HS fit) but again the rebalance has changed the low slots available and I would probably go for EANM and DC, ignoring (at this level) the damage or tracking mod.

Swap out the Tachs for Megapulse lasers. Tachs should really only be used on Nightmares or Paladins. The pve apoc shines best with Pulse lasers... it's bonus makes them great. You should also be using drones against frigs

Keep your BS and train for t2 shield mods

When its done you join valhalla project (in game chat)

All they do is incursions and they pay 30 mill each (every 10 min or so)

On top of that you will be able to learn how fleet combat works

Oh and you need Team Speak and a mic GL o7
