Is Reddit the saving grace for EVE Online?

There doesn't go a single day you don't see 3-4 topics on Reddit about MMOs and the universal answer to every post is "EVE Online." Worst community? EVE. Best community? EVE. Worst MMO ever? EVE. Best PVP? EVE.

Every single day of the week, seven days a week you will see ardent defenders of this MMO plastering the walls of Reddit. I have to say I consider myself a pretty hardcore gamer, but had Reddit not existed I doubt I would have ever heard about EVE. Is Reddit the marketing team EVE needs?

If Reddit is EVE's saviour, then they might as well shut the servers off right now, as such quality deserves nothing less.

The EVE community is EVE's saviour, as has been demonstrated more than once, so stop trolling TESTie-tard.

1/10.

Next!

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

The EVE community is great at generating content, but who's shouting from the rooftops telling everyone about how much awesome content we're making? Reddit.

The gaming community of Reddit generally has a very positive view of EVE Online and has without a doubt resulted in thousands of subscriptions. That's priceless when it comes to a game with as many subscribers as EVE Online.

Will Reddit be EVE's savior? Does EVE need a savior at this point? I think it's doing pretty well, especially if you acknowledge the fact that this game has been out for almost 10 years now.

Lots of people,

Massively, IGN, Eurogamer, RockPaperShotgun, the BBC.

Just google Eve online news and you get a lot of non-eve sites talking about it in various guises.

Yes I frequent Reddit too but it's not the be all and end all or the center of the internet, no matter how much some claim it is.

As others have said, EVE finds its way on to many different sites, including some that are not even game related. Most likely the reason you have only seen talked it about on Reddit is because you have not visited other places quite as frequently.

I wouldn't worry too much though, EVE's players can be very vocal about their obsessions and are usually quite happy to talk to just about anyone about how we all fly spaceships, make things explode and collect tears. EVE's greatest marketing tool is and most likely always be, its community and that community spreads a lot further than just one website Big smile

It is usually me just posting for karma.

Joking aside, the EVE subreddit is a pretty chill place to hang out and there is usually something very interesting to read there.

Also, EVE Community - Worst Community? Not by a long shot.
