Evelopedia | My Preferences | page won't load.

This is the message I get whenever I try to access the settings page for Evelopedia. When I log in, it displays an alt characters name instead of this characters name. When I click on the 'My Preferences' link to switch character name for editing, I end up with the above message from firefox. I have tried it both ways, with cookies allowed and not allowed.

I have Firefox version 13.0.1.

Computer stats =

HP p6-2020t
Intel Pentium G620 Processor
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit US
Nvidia GeForce GT 520 1GB DDR3 FH
4GB PC3-10600 RAM
500GB 7200RPM SATA-3G Hard Drive


I clicked on the Firefox icon in the browser to verify the current version and now I have a pop up box showing an update in progress.

What?

Hopefully the problem get's fixed after that.

EDIT:

Update finished and browser is now version 17.0.1. However, I still get the same message when trying to access the settings for Evelopedia.

Anyone have an answer? Is this a server side issue or a problem on the client side?

Most likely server-side.

Have you tried different browsers (IE, Chrome, etc.)? Clearing cache and cookies?

Yeah, I checked IE and it just keeps 'Loading' with a blank page. I've also cleared cache and cookies in Firefox. It seems like a server side issue but if other players can access the preferences page in Evelopedia after they log on, then that would indicate a problem on my side.

This does seem to be an issue with the site as opposed to a local problem with your internet browser. I have contacted the relevant developer team and they will look into it.

Thank you very much for checking into this. I didn't know if it was client side or server side that had the problem which is why I posted it here.

Hopefully it's just a small issue that's easily fixed. I will patiently wait for the issue to be corrected.

Just a friendly little bump. The issue in the original post is still active - the Evelopedia 'My Preferences' page won't load up and continues to display this message :

Bumping, same issue here.

Tried chrome and firefox and fricked with cookie settings which didn't help.

When I used the in game browser got to login but mismached alt name and portrait.

Also, why do I have to have a seperate login event between the eve community sites and the eveopedia? It makes no sense to me.

I posted about this a couple of days after it started (~19 Nov), emailed relevant authorities, ect... glad to see you at least got some GM feedback. :P

Anyway... there is a Workaround you might find useful.

The website team mentioned (some time ago) that they were planning on redesigning things to be single log-in. *Is starting to get blue from holding his breath*...

Guess the main thing to do (besides trying your workaround) is keep posting / bumping these threads until the problem / issue get's fixed.

Another shameless bump to get this one fixed.

I mean seriously, this is stopping us adding content to the Evopedia. Open for months and other posts and petitions. I think you can do better.

Going to give this issue another bump as it is still a problem. The workaround works, but it is rather annoying having to resort to using it.

Yeah, having to download another browser program just to access the preferences page in Evelopedia is indeed messed up.

Seems the workaround of using the Opera browser to influence Firefox no longer works. In the Opera browser I can still load the Preferences page, change characters and save settings.

Since I can no longer edit / create Evelopedia pages with this character using the Firefox browser, it looks like I'll have to use the Opera browser from now on. Obviously this is not a solution, just a means to an end.

By the way, the Evelopedia in Firefox browser now shows this characters portrait (DeMichael Crimson) while listing my alt characters name.

Guess the Firefox browser was caught in Time Dialation until I re-opened it cuz it's now showing this characters name in the Evelopedia log in.
