Everyone's avatar looks exactly like mine.

ok total, I have about 13?, maybe 14 avatars, none of them look alike, nor have I ever seen one elsewhere that made me say "damn, is that me?"

With the race based feature-set a person is likely to attain a similar look to someone else if doing nothing more that just using the random generation feature until they see one they like, or can live with.

Some folks (myself included) find the controls to customize a facial expression don't give me the result I'm looking for and generally make me end up looking like some weird partially aborted freak, or some mangled asylum escapee, so i use random until I reach and acceptable face and build upon that.

I'm sure that I'll find (at some point) an avatar that looks similar to this one, but i hope that doesn't happen for a while.

Don't mistake fact for arrogance, supposition for fact, or disagreement for dismissal. Perception is unique in that it can be shared or singular. Run with the pack if you wish, but think for yourself. A sandwich can be a great motivator.

Really ?

I find the possibilites of emotional expression to be rather huge and fulfilling.
There's a lot of work to be put into the details ... just as to be expected, regarding facial expression.

Regarding your face i must say that you have a rather distinct one. Nice work.
I think i actually know a person IRL that reminds me of you.

Like the avatar matters at all.
On most my toons i just hit random till i got something not too horrible.

Lazy! You are calling me lazy? You don't know how much effort it took to make the most archetypal looking Caldari officer.
From start I had to restrict myself to only change Aging (to look more wise), scarring (to look older), Hair (nothing wrong with bald people, right?), Clothes (a giving), Lights (so you could se the EFFORT I put into this character).

You don't know how much effort it took to press "Next", "Next", "Next", "Next", "Take picture", "Finalize".

Why? avatar is nothing more then a avatar it have no use in eve "yet". So people stick with the basic style. And its fine for me i just colour the hair make it little older but thats it. Take less then 10 min work on this one. If the made a avatar game inside eve perhaps i change it but for now its good.

old glitch. can't be done any longer. which suits me just fine. but to each their own i suppose.

people that have avatars featuring the glitch can never change them. if they do the glitch is gone forever.

Actually I think the avatar modeler is pretty good, especially considering that we play a game that puts the focus not on our avatar but on the ships we fly. And this thread gives some good (and in part good looking Big smile) examples of different faces. However, I also think that it could be better and hope that someday the modeler gets updated with more options.

Eyes, nose and lips are key defining facial features that are set by race and bloodline (among other less obvious things). It would be nice to have at least 3 different sets each for every bloodline or to have more and broader options to alter the facial features in general. And while we’re at it, I would like to have morphing sliders for all facial features (maybe at the left side of the screen) so that I could do incremental changes using numbers.

Hairstyle, beard and (for some maybe surprisingly) eyebrows also have a large impact on how we look like. When I started EVE and created my avatar, I was surprised that there weren’t a lot more options. The limitations in hairstyles and beards are probably one of the main reasons why many avatars look similar even despite having different origins. Among all the possible changes this should be very high if not on top of the list.

More patterns for eyeshadow and if possible metallic colors for eyeshadow and makeup in general, more (good looking) tattoos, tattoos on body parts other than the face, more clothing (including footwear, glasses and gadgets) and maybe hats and jewelry would be icing on the cake.
