Finding fertile areas for sales

So, I am looking for places to sell my manufactured product. Jita doesn't seem to be the smart bet for low end items I will be selling. People recommend mission hubs, lowsec linked systems, etc. I am getting to know DotLan and have tried to come up with ideas of where to set up shop but I feel like I am blinding throwing at a dartboard. Can anyone share some advice on how I can use the tools available to me to make an educated guess on where I should be selling my wares?

Most people will shop at a hub, because that's where you can get most everything you need in one place. If it's just ammo, they might shop locally, unless the prices are too high vs the hub price. Besides the advice people already gave you, not sure what else you need.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

I am having a hard time deciphering what is a worthwhile hub basically.

Trade hub or mission hub? For a mission hub, you'll want to see a lot of people in local. A few different level 3 and 4 agents.

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2367166#post2367166 is a pretty good option too.

Check around your home region and find quite routs to each region around you. You can normally find a system in your home region that has quick access to 3 - 4 region other regions (like around 5 jumps away). This will give you the largest and easiest setup for reaching several regions in the shortest amount of time / jumps.

From here it really depends on what you are manufacturing and or selling. You can research what agents are in what stations and setup sell orders at stupid high prices for the items that are needed. For example R&D agents generally have you pick up XXXX amount of a mineral. You can easily sell these minerals for 50%-100% markup. But this requires alot of research and time setting up.

Generally outside of missions players will most of the time buy items at the main (prime) system in the region, or which ever system is on a trade route. If they are un-willing to go out of the region (to jita/domain/trade hub) chances are this will be the spot they will go to simply because it is where everyone else is selling at.

Also just like mission hubs you can look up ice mining systems and setup ice mining related goods, and in the popular/big mining systems mining related goods (drones, crystals, barges, etc).

Overall you just need to think of the Eve market like how the real world market works. Setup shop in high activity areas for the most traffic. If you setup in less active areas you will sell less volume but can sell at higher prices. Decide on what type of setup you want to do and go from there.

Here is the method of a humble, low end trader.

I place items at an NPC corporation tutorial school. Frig/T1 items and +1 implants.

Low end combat modules/ammo/hulls/implants go to L1/L2 security agent stations within 4 jumps of that school. I've found these stations using the Agent Finder.

Low end indy/mining modules/hulls/implants/materials go to the manufacturing hub within 4 jumps of that school. I found these systems by looking at sell orders for many items and surmising where people are building things.

Correct prices and locations based on performance.

wait ... wouldn't most manufactures get their T1 modules/materials at a trade hub ?

If finding the right spot for your product is a problem for you, perhaps try finding the right product for your spot instead?

What would be the best way of doing that? Forgive my ignorance, I'm sure there is a way to get statistics on what sells and for how much/how often.

No-skill market checking alts located in various hubs. You have 2 non-training character slots per account.

For example, one Item I make is pointless to sell in Jita, sort of sells in Hek, and sells extremely well in Rens. I buy the materials in Jita, so it is nice that the Rens sell price for the finished item is also 30% higher than in Jita, as technically I'm partially being paid for hauling.

Ok new question, is it worth my time to get into refining or to travel and purchase the minerals myself?

As in life, your path depends on your preferences. Do you prefer control?

If you prefer to own the supply chain, then refine. If you own the supply chain then you have greater control over what you build. If you control what you build then you can better target inefficient markets..

If you do not prefer control then buy. Buy more. Buy more and be happy. So long as the price is right and you can turn a profit.... Profit above all else, profit and be grateful for commerce.

EVE is a contest and money is how we keep score.

Let us be thankful we have commerce. Buy more. Buy more now. Buy. And be happy.
