(Returning from break since Trinity was released) Can we still commit can theft?

Tried swiping loot from another guy's can and could not do it....

Also looking to suicide gank jackasses that fly a pod with a large bounty on them, can a Condor with light Kenetic missles get that done?

You need to set your Safety to orange.

You should probably read up on the Retribution changes. They are most applicable to everything you just asked.

Looting someone else's can requires you to change your "safety" to yellow. Looting said can will make you shootable by anyone, not just the can owner. Redistributing said materail while you suspect (or shootable by everyone) will simply allow the original owner to retake the can with no consequence.

Bounty's pay out a percentage of the ship value now (20% unless I missed a patch change somewhere...they were talking about upping it) and this gets broken up and distributed to everyone in space, in fleet. So an empty pod for someone worth 2 billion will net you like 200k. (Assuming empty pods still register as being valued at 1 mil).

EDIT: In order to do anything that would be strictly criminal (I.E. call in Concord) you'll need to have your safety set to red.

Low sec is special now, in that shooting someone only makes you suspect, not criminal. Podding in low sec will make you criminal and grant a kill right. Kill rights are special snowflakes now and advise reading the blogs and patchnotes.

Crime is such a subjective term in EVE, CONCORD aren't actual police and you can grind sec back up with no real consequences to committing one, i prefer the term Unexpected Unsavory Experience

You can by switching off your safety.
But call us first. We'd like to be there and welcome you to Retribution, when you turn suspect Twisted - like so many before you...

In the time that you have been gone, Eve has received both a buff to Concord, and more recently, a ridiculous buff to the HP of mining barges and Exhumers.

Also, everything has changed since Trinity. EVERYTHING.

Trinity was a huge deal because CCP was completely revamping the graphics of their game. Well guess what? They've done it several times since then. They've switched from dedicating entire expansions to graphic overhaul to doing a few ships, or one aspect of the game at a time. Eve is constantly getting prettier. But as a returning player, assuming you can remember what Trinity looked like, some of the biggest graphic changes to you might be the skyboxes (AKA Nebulas), planets, and I guess all of the ships look a lot better now.

There have been a bunch of ships added to the game since Trinity. And most, if not all of the ships that were around when you were last here do not exist in the same form. They have all had buffs and nerfs and balances over the years. Also, they've added/changed other things: Faction Warfare, Wormholes, Planetary Interaction (with Customs Offices that can be owned by corporations in low and null), Nullsec Sov Mechanics, changes to the bounty system, changes to killrights, changes to aggression, changes to wars. Seriously, like I said, everything about the game has changed since Trinity.

I would just recommend reading all patch notes and dev blogs since 2007 if you want to catch up. P

How does this operate for the sentries? Does this mean I can shoot player characters at a 0.4 - 0.1 gates and the sentries will leave me alone?

What if I shoot at someone in a 0.4 belt and then warp to a gate/station? Will the guns engage?

What about doing this and then warping to zero and jumping into high sec? will the faction navy engage still?

Also what about the missing killmails? I had several thousand kills since beta and it now seems I can only see a handfull of kills and losses since 2008... everything prior to this date is gone (yes I was afk for a year or two) when I reinstalled the client..

can flippin is the essence of eve mechanics. when takin smth is not yours will become impossible, eve will become too RLish to be playable.

Can flipping carries heavier consequences in that now ANYONE can shoot you. Also once you go suspect, anyone can open your can. My advice if you're flipping for profit: flip it into your own can, abandon the can, and then have an alt/friend flip from the blue can into a new one. That will put a can on the field that no one can touch.

Trinity was before my time, but if you relied on neutral logi support, know that it has taken a much needed-nerf. Logis will go suspect if they assist a suspect, and they will also inherit weapons timers that prevent them from docking or jumping.

Suicide ganking is still a viable thing, but a LOT of ship stats have changed and you should familiarize yourself with those changes prior to attempting it.

Before the tank of a mining barge or exhumer was at the level of a wet paper bag, accept it and get on with it!

For the OP, a Hulk is still very easy to gank even with a fitted tank, in fact you will find that ship no different to what you saw before. The Mackinaw can be tanked quite well, but even then a determined group of people who know what they are doing could gank even a tanked one, I reckon 7 gank fit catalyst could do it, if properly executed. However this is Eve, so you find that people do not fit their Mackinaws for tank but for yield, I have seen some Mackinaws that were killed still have cargo rigs on when they have a dedicated ore bay, those miners deserve to have you the OP kicking their butt.

The issue for you is if a miner jumps into a Skiff or a Procurer and tanks it, the Procurer can be set to tank at the level of a Tier 1 BC, while the Skiff can be set to tank at the level of a BS you will have to up your game to kill them, the good news for you is that hardly anyone mines in a Skiff or a Procurer.

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

History of Can-flipping:

1) No flagging.

Miner: Waaaaah, this isn't fair. CCP let us defend our cans!

CCP Dev: Okay

2) Can stealing flags you to owner/corp.

Miner: Waaaaah, now people are baiting us into flagging ourselves and killing our mining ships.Cry

CCP Dev: But you just asked for----

Miner: Waaaaahhhh! We spent all our SP on mining barges and we're too stupid not to steal from a flipped can.

CCP Dev: Ugh Why is that our responsibility?

Miner: Waaaaahhh! I'm unsubbing! I'll do it! I swear to God, I'll do it!

CCP Dev: Oops Well, since apparently half of our revenue comes from highsec miner subs....

3) Can-fliiping flags you to entire universe, owners gets to take from suspec's can, and barges have a Big...Effing...orebay.

CCP: Happy now?!?!?!? X

Miner:Cry Waaah, now I'm getting bumped!Cry

CCP Dev:My life can't possibly get any worse.

EA rep: Twisted That'sssssss a nice game you have there.

History of Can-flipping:

silliness....

Generalisation is most amusing, when I started playing Eve I was sitting in a belt, someone came in with a Hulk started mining, then a BS came in and dropped a can, had the same corp name, he left. In came can flipper, flipped can, in came BS and blew the can flipper to hell, young Dracvlad was very impressed...

I like these changes. Now I can get payback whether or not the asshat has done me wrong directly or not.TwistedTwistedTwisted

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

That was a test, and the miner failed.
Not kidding there were a couple of corps with members who do that.
