Few quick questions about war dec mechanics

So, I'm at a little bit of a loss for how war dec mechanics work. I've done some searching and can't really find an answer to this exactly.

Say, there is an alliance with 3 corporations...

Alliance A
- Corporation A
- Corporation B
- Corporation C

- Can corporation B be involved in faction warfare without dragging the whole alliance into it?
- If a corporation or alliance declares war on corporation A, does that mean they automatically declare war on the whole alliance?
- Can corporation B declare war independently without dragging the whole alliance into a war?
- Say another corporation (Corporation E) joins the alliance and wants to be out of all wars, can they choose not to participate?

Thanks in advance =)

No when a corp is part of an alliance if any corp gets war deced the entire alliance is deced. Also a corp can not participate in faction warfare without the rest of the alliance so long as the corp is part of an alliance. That does not mean they can not go into lowsec and pvp.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

Point 1:

No, if you want your corporation into FW only, you will have to drop the alliance.

EVE works a level of command like this:

Alliance

Corporation

Personal

This means that if a corporation is in an alliance, all the FW / Wardec's are affecting on a alliance level. So it can't be that the alliance isn't in FW while the corp is.

This flows over into...

Point 2:

Yes, cause you CAN'T declare wars on corporations that are part of an alliance. If a corp is part of an alliance, you can only declare war on that alliance, not just 1 corp in it.

Point 3:

Again, like in rule 1 and 2...No. Because corp B is part of an alliance it means that ALL wardec decisions are made by the alliance and not individual corporations. The alliance can however wardec someone on request of corporation B if they can push it true so that the entire alliance supports it.

Point 4:

Yes and No.

No, when they join, they WILL be viable war targets. They will be part of the war and can be shot down without CONCORD.

Yes, they can move away from where the battlefields are. They can wait till the war is over and then join etc. etc.

The war declaration process requires voting, and voting is usually started and carried by the directors and CEO of whichever entity (corporation or alliance) is at the top of the chain. An alliance has an executor (CEO) corporation, and member corporations, so it functions like a corp, more or less.

J'Poll has explained the answers to each scenario; here's an evelopedia entry on it too.

The need to vote for a wardec has been gone since 1 or 2 expansions ago.
Now the CEO can just declare war on anybody if he feels like it.
