What's a good place to party in Boston?

Pilots of Boston and Boston enthusiasts,

CCP will be at Pax East this year which is held in Boston on the weekend of March 22-24 and since we're there we want to meet up with you and maybe invite our good friend Sam Adams to join.

So I thought I'd ask you if you had any recommendations for a good bar to host such a gathering of prestigious spaceship pilots. We're aiming for a casual, fun night at a nice bar/lounge that's conveniently located.

From Pax ( Boston Convention Center location? ) I would stick around the Northern Avenue locations since theres about 10 restaurants/bar of high quality side by side and close to where you will probably have your hotel ect.

Legal Sea Foods
270 Northern Avenue Boston, MA 02210, United States
+1 617-477-2900
http://www.legalseafoods.com/restaurants/boston-legal-harborside-floor-3

Has a nice top bar and patio over the water so take a look at that spot via google and you can then take a look at the surrounding options like Atlantic Beer Garden or The Whiskey Priest etc which are close by etc.

Well Legal Seafoods is a pretty expencive restaurant, that does not really lend it self for a meet up and some beer, though the fish is very good there and well worth the money.

One suggestion is: Drink (http://drinkfortpoint.com/ - on GMaps: http://goo.gl/maps/LhzYq) or
Stoddard Fine Food & Ale (http://stoddardsfoodandale.com/index2.php?action=9)
Both are in walking distance from the Convention center.

These might be quite full during PAX. Also very nice is something like John Harvard's (https://www.johnharvards.com/) who have there own brewed beer on tab. But that is already in Cambridge.

It kind of depends on where you're staying, I think, and how many people you think will come. While the Northern Avenue suggestion is good, most people who are going to be at PAX aren't going to be staying near the convention center - there's really only one hotel.

In terms of Legal Sea Foods, you are going to want to look at Legal Harborside as was suggested. There is a bar (and they sell sushi!) at the top of the restaurant that is very nice.

Otherwise, you probably want to look at locations in the Faneuil Hall marketplace area, which is not too inconvenient from the convention center.

I figured they would be staying at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel be it that CCP only rolls in style....Blink And since the area around Legal has so many options within a short walk its within stumbling distance..

Other than that I too think they should get into Faneuiel Hall Market for day and night activities. If "Codzilla" is running at that time they have to get on that beast for a good go around the Harbor!.

Thanks for the advice, guys.

We don't know where we'll be staying just yet but it doesn't have to be close to our hotel anyway, Boston isn't that big of a city and we're more concerned that it's accessible and convenient for our guests :)

It's hard to predict how many will turn up but since it's around a major gaming show it's usually not hard to pluck out EVE players and drag them to a party. Any leftover space is usually easily filled with friends of CCP. It´s likely that we're looking at 150-300 people or so.

I couldn't get my hand on a 3-day pass this year, so I do hope you'll make the event open to EVE players without PAX passes.

Jillian's is a good bet. It can be spaced out a little strangely (the pool tables are kinda far from the bowling lanes, so there's some disassociation there) but they can accomodate a lot of people.

Aside from that, for 150-300 people, you could rent a function room in your hotel, get catering, and get volunteers from the Boston EVE community set up for you. I would do it!

Of course :). The gathering will be unrelated to PAX in that way.

Thanks, guys!

Maybe we'll just get a 100 people, maybe more. We'll have to see as time draws near.

The Enforcers have held their afterparties at the following places:

2010 - Lir - http://www.lironboylston.com/ - Three levels iirc, can be a bit cramped.

2011 - The Greatest Bar - http://www.thegreatestbar.com/ - Pretty large main bar with balcony surrounding it.

2012 - Jillian's Lucky Strike - http://jilliansboston.com/ - Largest of the three. Can handle like 300+ people.

I agree with Snot Shot that Jillian's is likely your best bet if you can get it.

And yes please keep us posted, we always like to hang out with CCP at PAXes Big smile

Legal Test Kitchen will not be able to handle a bunch of drunken EVE players and the bar is way to small. I usually eat there every time I go to PAX ( Yeah expense account) and it is good but not a good spot for a gathering like this. There this place within walking distance to the convention center. www.whiskey-priest.com . A lot of my co-workers go there when we are at PAX and they really like it. There is also www.papagayoboston.com a few blocks from the center. Decent sized but very popular even on non convention evenings.

The NYC comment made me rage and laugh at the same time.

Bostonian here, Jillians is okay, if you have not reserved it yet, chances are you have missed your chance. Lots of larger places get reserved for PAX gatherings.
