Retribution on Mac: Exception during Controller.UpdateClient

I had Eve running well on a mid-2012 13" MBA using the Steam Mac client. I upgraded to Retribution and received the exception below after launching the game (I don't even see the launcher). After removing all local content using Steam, I I "rm -rf"-ed the Eve directory in SteamApps and redownloaded the whole 6.3 GB, only to get the same exception again. I would appreciate any feedback or tips to rectify this issue.

Found it!

Open the terminal, delete the file /Users/[your username]/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Eve Online/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/cache/checksums and launch Eve from within Steam. The launcher opens and starts downloading the patches.

New install of Steam + EVE on an iMac, I had the same issue. Your fix solved the problem.
