What do you guys think about it? Can it hold it's own? Looks like a cheap alternative for 0.0 ratting to me.
But how about in practice? :) Any live experiences?

Although not that much experiance with ratting, I can't imagine that tank be enough.

This will survive better, is a lot cheaper and does very respectable dps. The Talos is going to have problems tanking the BS's, and the damn frigs will go after your drones

When I did ratting in a Talos, I did it with a shield tank setup using a Pith B-type shield booster. This was against Serpentis. It worked fairly well, but you have to have perfect cap skills, good shield skills and balls of solid steel to do it. It ran hubs extremely quickly (18-20ish mil ticks) for the hull cost. I eventually switched over to a different ship for blowing through hubs though.

A Talos with no damage mods is a bit of a waste tbh. Also, shield tanking is always preferable against Angels.

I was able to belt rat in null sec using a shield tanked talos with 4 MFSs. It did about 1000dps but relied heavily on landing close to the rats. If I landed 50km away the BSs would melt me before I got close. I wouldn't even attempt anoms.

Also, even if you get close enough that you nullify the BSs you'd best hope there aren't too many BCs or elite cruisers around.

If you consider the Talos a "cheap" alternative, might I suggest a Dominix with Bouncer IIs?

3 cap rigs, 3 DDUs, 4 beta cap power relays, an X-Large Shield Booster II, Explosive Hardener II, Invuln Field II, an ionic field accelerator and an Omni-Directional Tracking Link II. The highs should have a few drone link augs and then I like to add some 1200mm artillery guns to give a little more dps.

Warping in at about 85km you should be able to tank forsaken hubs pretty easily and blow through the rats cos you'll be doing over 600dps.

Alternatively you could swap the tracking link for another shield boost amp to reall beef up the tank and work from inside 50km.

Why would you, on a Dominix, go for 1200 Arties? Doesn't the Domi have a bonus to Hybrids, in which case you'd get mopre DPS out of CN Antimatter loaded 350's?
Or is that more a damagetype/capsaving decision?

Not sure about the shield version but an armor domi can run a full set of rails and a full tank as well as a AB and be cap stable. I'm guessing the shield version would have a very hard time doing that though.

Good question and I'll give you a few reasons.

1) Saving cap is quite important to a shield boosting domi. I tried running 350mm rails and found I had to turn them off on occasions to prevent my tank from failing.
2) The above fit is very CPU intensive but has masses of PG to spare which means fitting arties is much easier than rails.
3) Against angels, explosive is the best damage type, and hybrids dont do that.
4) Since almost 600dps is being done by drones you could argue that the extra guns aren't really needed anyway. They are just there because I hate seeing slots and PG going to waste when it could pump my ship by 60dps or so.

But yes, if I had the cap and fitting I'd probably be using rail guns Lol

Rat's are dead before they do any damage. You have no need for an active tank. I used this fit in gallente space to rat my sec status up from -10 in 2xBS + 2xCruiser Anoms. Never struggled until i took on 6BS at once.

Feel free to fit co-pro's and more mag stabs.

I wouldn't try any hard anoms in a talos. For belt ratting i would go with shield's and rail (imo rails are much better with our 5s ammo swap). If you want to get in close, fit a mwd.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

You have obviously never experienced T2 Neutrons with Null then.
