As in every serious and professional design process you make many rough drawings and iterate on the chosen one(s). I'm not into painting and graphics but I think its the way it goes.

Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZCn6x1-j_8 starting at the 1:53 mark you can some other sceches that were createt. I would really be happy to see one or two of them in another expantion. Perhaps one of them with an Omen-like hookbill?

But in terms of Amarr design philosophy the Dragoon is correct and fits perfectly into the line of bulky and sturdy ships. +1 for that. Smile

But the Algos and the Corax are a bit more innovative and sport designs that have never been seen before in eve. The Corax with it ice breaker-submarine like look and the algos as submarine-b52-battlestar:galactica like look are plainly new and are a bit more appealing to my eye.

It's a terribly lazy design, it's similarly shaped as the Coercer and Purifier (which I'm also not a fan of) and actually reminds me of this. It's front heavy and shows a lack of effort and time investment by its designer. It looks as if CCP simply didn't bother.

The Algos to me looks like someone put in great care, joy and detail into the design. I bet that design took a lot of talking between devs to create something that's "out there" resulting in someone being very proud of the outcome. it's the same with the Corax in that respect (also, I wouldn't at all mind if this Corax would herald the new Caldari design language and CCP would redo the Caldari V3 stuff in a while).

The Talwar is already suspect and borderline boring, I bet there was a "please, lets not make a Cane/Cyclone/Rifter/Rupture clone" going on, resulting in a complete loss of design options and a "well, at least it's different". I'm not saying it's necessarily ugly but it shows a lack of commitment. Still, it's better off than the Dragoon (which is a crappy name for an Amarr ship to begin with).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Algos and Corax were made by the same designer but he didn't do the Dragoon and/or Talwar, or perhaps he ran out of time and had to rush them.

This.
First time I saw the Dragoon what crossed my mind was... doesn't a ship like this already exists?
And the Talwar is not bad, but wings are not enough to make a good design, the "tank" inspiration was taken too much to the letter, that box on the top could use a lot more work. Both ships look rushed and incomplete.
Algos and Corax look awesome.

No we must keep a few ugly ships so that we have a base as to which we can compare future new hulls.

Can't they set up a museum of some kind.

In fact forget the Moa, just set up the Museum.

That would be awesome.

Yeah, they should setup scrap yards in the capital systems with all the old models of ships which have changed floating in space, so you can fly around and look at them. It would be like those aeroplane graveyards they have today. It would make an interesting tourist attraction.

Didn't someone already put up some hull redesigns for frigs like the Imicus and the Navitas?

I agree, the Dominx is too much like an upside down shoe.

It needs to sleeker and more imposing like the Megathron.

it's a fat, pregnant coercer.

You people must be delusional. I think it looks great.

Thank you! I thought I was alone in appreciating the sleek deadliness of the Amarr design.

I have to say it is by far the best designed ship in eve, it even has little lights for the drones follow to land, a spinning bit and some balls. Makes the ship allot more exciting to look at. Yay for spinning stuff

Corax is imo the most beautiful new ship in eve, i simply CANT stop my self just looking at it and loving it, no matter from what angle! The person making THAT ship also deserves huge credit :)

IMO from a practical/lore perspective it's to protect the drones as they're launching/returning.

Well hes right, it does look absolutely awesome. I like the dronebays the most. Very detailed and fitting to the ship. I wonder why the Dragoon doesnt have a visible dronebay, though.

Edit: Dont touch the Domi! Some minor rework, as the Megathron got, is okay. But leave the potatoness alone!

give it some wingy bits like the brutix, then the potato chassis will look more dangerous. :P

It have very little in common with the Coercer other than it's a tube shape. If you want to pick a ship it resembles you should be comparing it to the Purifier.

That being said, I like the Purifier... and really have no problem with the Dragoon.

why do masochistic people claim they like the flying disfigured turkeyboat

i dont care if they leave some of the current look, but it needs to have more of a presence (the thorax LOOKS like it can deal some heavy DPS, whereas the moa looks like it cant punch a hole through a paper bag)

also, needs wings. Need to be more winged caldari boats.

I don't know about the B-52. I think it's more like the B-24 Liberator with the glass cone and the Davis wings. But otherwise, the rest of what you said is pretty much spot on.

Just bought one too, gonna go spread her wings and sharpen her talons later tonight :-)

Actually, Algos looks most like an Avro Lancaster bomber.

I do like the design, but there are two things that bug me:

1. The drone launch/recovery bays could have been attached to the main hull in a better way.
2. What's with the big round mount on the left "wing"? Looks like the spinning radar dish was originally supposed to go there, but the design was changed mid-way and never corrected.
