Reinventing the bounty system

This is kind of a spin off of the topic "Removing Concord":

Maybe make an automatic ship bounty system in place of CONCORD?

Make it that when you gank someone in high sec, and you don't have a ship bounty, the total market value of the ship and it's components that were destroyed get automatically added to your bounty. When you kill someone with a ship bounty, you get half the bounty from the kill, and the victims get the other half of the bounty.

Firstly it would be great for pirates, because it would give them another point of pride to show - they could amass billions in bounties (split between the people who killed the pirate). It would also make PvP bounty hunting a fantastic profession, so long as you are willing to risk your ship to kill a bounty hunter (of course the higher bounties will be more experienced and equipped pilots).

The nature of the bounty system would mean that as soon as you kill someone in hisec, everyone in hisec gets automatic kill rights to you. Pirates would make brief raiding excursions from lowsec to gank people and take off before others could get into the area. They could then keep the bounty going for more sport, or get a friend to gank them to collect a bounty. The kicker here is that if the bountied pirate gets killed by another bountied pirate, the bounty gets reduced to 10% for the pirate and 90% for the victim. This sets up a lucrative market for non-pirates to pay other pirates to gank the pirates who ganked them.

If a pirate has enough reputation with a criminal association, they can pay a substantial amount to get the bounty removed, or to have it "hidden" for a few hours, allowing them to either buy goods, or make a stealthy incursion into a well-padded system to rake in more profits from their exploits.

What do you guys think?

I think the last thing Eve needs is another isk faucet that can be abused.

Except that abuse of the system isn't severe enough to cause that much damage. The pirate ganks someone and immediately becomes a target for anyone in hisec who feels like a shooting match, as they can kill the pirate with no repercussions. Maybe make it that the bounties can only be claimed, as well as earned in hisec.

Bounty hunters would roam asteroid belts and mission areas to pick off pirates. Miners would hire bounty hunters to protect them. And you would get a lot of people who have no bounty getting paid by bounty hunters to lure pirates out of lowsec into an ambush. Battleships sitting with tacklers on hisec gates to tackle and kill any bountied pirate that comes through.

I think it would be a grat thing.

i think you are misunderstanding how this works. Just having a bounty does not make you a target.

A pirate to me is somebody with a -5 or lower Status. If he enters Highsec anybody can shoot at him. They are mostly in pods/shuttle/frigate, 20% of the insured value spread between the few that were in fleet and just so happens to catch him is not much of a pay day.

And people activating killrights on a -5 pilot is just moronic.

As for those who have a positive standing (Weekend Pirates/suiciders) how are you planning on shooting at them? Besides Wars they would need public killrights you need to activate.

stopped reading at remove CONCORD, bounties wont be able to replace CONCORD that doesn't involve massive tears and quitting at the hands of high sec players, null would swarm in and smash that isn't blue
