Im sorry but there is a large number of people who dont understand dust 514 because of the NDA and I am informing them the best of my ability of what I do know is publicly disclosed knowledge.

dust players can apply to eve corporations directly? or will we have to place dust adverts?

No advert is required, they just search and apply.

Smoking Blunts wrote:
do the eve corporations need to be in FW for them to apply?

No, the EVE players only need to be in faction warfare if they want to provide orbital support. We'll have more on that in an FAQ released later this week.

This makes the hole thing entirely uninteresting for the better part of the Eve community - well done.
Edit: Oh wait - we will kill the Orbital bombardment fleets instead.

Still wondering exactly how DUST is going to affect nullsec sov. It's seriously a big deal for a lot of us and there haven't been much specifics about the mechanics. Just kind of vague talk about planets.

The fact that CCP's been so mum on it concerns me, as if they're expecting it to be unpopular with EVE players and just going to spring it on us.

For now, it's not.

Only Faction warfare, where it adjusts how much has to be done to flip a system

Poor guinea pigs of FW .... lets hope FW team will change soon and get rid of that stupid idea. .....

I'm just wondering if anyone has thought about the pay to play aspect of Dust and EVE?
correct me if i'm wrong but Dust players don't have to pay to play thier game to interact with EVE pilots in the EVE universe, but EVE pilots still have to pay to play the game and interact with dust players on PS3??

They pay via subscription with Sony (non-specific to the ccp game) I believe.

There is no subscription fee for the normal Playstation Network as far as I'm aware. IIRC there is a subscription based 'prefered membership' or something like that but again AFAIK it's not required to play Dust. I would imagine that Sony gets a cut of all the Aurum transactions when Dust players buy Aurum from the Playstation Store, but that's just speculation on my part.

If I start getting a bill for a standard run of the mill PSN sub, I'm going to cancel it and sell my PS3....

A bag of awesome! But please tell me that the NDA is being lifted, if not today, soonish. It's silly to imagine a battle comms situation restricted by the NDA. Heck even the combat logs themselves are breaching it, aren't they?

Better graphics, good sound, better voice acting, 12 ships, 3 races, a metal/organics/crystal/energy resource system, a couple dozen copy paste weapons, avatar combat, market, hand holding sandbox, and character progression both sides is a 4 year mmo project, throw mass market and less frustrating controls/concepts/player flow and you may have a serious contender. Luckily EA screws up Eve killers just as much as they screw up Wow killers.

Don't worry, EA will always keep raping / screwing up every game they publish ;)

Correct.

Dust will be entirely free to play, with the ability to get some kit by spending real money. This kit will not be better than kit bought with ISK, just different. Perhaps easier to fit, or a little easier to use. It will not be in any way required to win.

There may be other uses for Aurum, but I'm constrained by the NDA here.

Can anyone download DUST? Or do they have to pay for a premium subscription with Sony?

The fact of DUST being free to play is easily countered by EVE's "Haha I can fly dat vindicator and u don't" aspect Big smile
