You really need to question their abilities when it's miners they hide in NPC corps from.

90% of Agents and Knights have always been in player corps. And, for the first time ever, there is now an official New Order Alliance, CODE..

This whine is no longer valid.

You should leave a single piece of ore next to their ship, and send them a mail saying the following:

"Did you like the piece of ore I put next to you? I want to show you something. Look at your shields, now your armour, now your hull. Add them together. About 1200, yes? I was close enough to target you with my battleship, and with one button presss could do a total of 3000 damage in a single strike, and you would never have had a chance to even see it coming - because you were AFK. AFK ganking is a real thing, look it up. This is your last warning, I know where you mine. I catch you AFK mining again, say bye-bye to your ship.

Have a lovely day and enjoy your mining expeditions!

ps. I patrol all systems within 15 jumps, looking for AFK miners just like you, you are not safe in the next system. o/"

It would work well, I think.

BTW, I'm a miner lol. Big smile

I dunno man, I prefer to just blow the ship up and let that serve as a warning.

Your method could work well when you can't find a fleet, though.

So, do piilots of the New Order go after just afk miners? Do they leave someone alone if they prove to be mining at the keyboard?

We go after non-permit-holders. Being at the keyboard in itself doesn't make you safe - only a permit does. But beware, if you go afk/violate the code even with a permit you may get ganked/bumped.

So it's not to stop AFK mining, it's to stop non permit mining

Yep pretty much. Allow extortion or be killed.

The Highsec Mafia, capsuleers and gentlemen.

And just like in real life, by the time the police arrive, the damage is done, and the mayor (CCP) doesn't really care as long as they get re-elected.

Earlier today, the Dixon Mining Guild and the Butz Manufacturing Corporation formed a coalition.

It's hard to tell if there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the Dixon-Butz Alliance.

Behold, ladies and gentlemen, the bot-aspirant. In his desire to not play EVE (AFK mine), he is unwilling to lift a finger to defend himself and fight back, and would rather cry ~extortion~ on the forums or wait for other people to do the heavy lifting. Fellow capsuleers, we cannot allow New Eden to belong to such machine-creatures.

Mira, with every word, you remind us of why we fight, and why we cannot stop until every highsec miner adheres strictly to the Code, or lies broken at the hands of the Knights.

I never said I was AFK mining.

I have never been successfully ganked in a belt.

The fact that you are not just targeting AFK miners, but also miners who do not buy a worthless permit, you are extorting them. That's not open for debate, that's the definition of the word, sweetheart.

I enjoy looking at the drama not only on here, but also over on MinerBumping. I would certainly be pro New Order if they were only targeting bots, but they are not. They are merely bored gankers who have nothing better to do than to shoot at players who cannot fight back. Whichever side wins, so do I, because I'm here for the drama.

Darling, we target everyone who does not stand with us in this battle against the bots and bot-aspirants. If you do not accept the Code, you are just as dangerous to the well-being of Eve as the worst botter.

You do not get to dictate our policies in this matter. When you claim that the permit is worthless, we can see which ideology is closer to your heart, bot-aspirant.

We are ready to do what is right. We fight for every honest miner.

I don't agree. Your Mafia analogy would be correct if the motive of the permit was to maximize profit. Anyone can clearly see 10m ISK a year does not cover the cost of enforcement. The New Order is a business, but it is a non-profit community service kind of enterprise.

Now to your extortion claim, here's the Merriam-Webster definition of the root word "extort"

Extort: to obtain from a person by force, intimidation, or undue or illegal power. [Dictionary link]

For one, the New Order does not force miners to mine. They voluntarily make the choice of doing so. Same with intimidation, as it is the miner that initiates the exchange by choosing to mine. Finally, there is no "undue" or "illegal" power being used, neither by the EULA or TOS standards, or by any reasonable ethical standards.

Now I don't expect everyone to agree with this, and let's say that you are right and the New Order does in fact extort players. So what? You don't see CEOs get up in arms over spies. Scammers are written off and ignored. Most players know and accept EVEs adapt or die nature. If you get caught in a gatecamp, it's your fault. If you put in too many zeroes on the trade order, it's your fault. It's always your fault because you could avoid these things by playing better.

A lot of miners do play better, they either effectively learn to resist the New Order or buy a permit and join it. The crowd that does neither gets mowed down, and then whose fault is that?

Wescro, you're certainly more civilized and helpful than Snowflake up there, who seems to like throwing "bot-aspirant" around a lot.

Eve's true beauty comes from the mixing and clashing of different styles of play. The pirates of lowsec, the (what used to be) warring alliances in null, and the traders, industrialists, and mission runners of highsec. It's never perfectly balanced, and never will be. But one style of play cannot crush another style of play.

Five years of Hulkageddon did nothing to botters. It did nothing to AFK'ers.

So you'll understand my reluctance to believe that the New Order is going to succeed where so many have failed before.

Do I endorse what the New Order is doing? No. Do I enjoy watching it? Hell yes. We're internet denizens. Quite a few of us feed off of drama. This game is never in short supply of it. That's pretty much why I've come back four times.

Earlier today, the Dixon Mining Guild and the Butz Manufacturing Corporation formed a coalition.

EVE's true beauty does indeed come from the clashing of different styles of play - however, not all styles of play are equal. For example, the AFK miner contributes nothing, and very few people would even notice if they quit - they are almost NPCs. The New Order, however, forces it's gameplay upon the AFK miner and the bot-aspirant, and in doing so, creates the "clashing of different styles of play". Without the New Order, you would not have so much content on www.minerbumping.com to enjoy, you would not have this thread to post in.

It is because of the New Order, and other similar groups (e.g. Goons) who create conflict and content, that EVE gets it's uniqueness.

While the New Order of Highsec is always encouraging new ideas for emergent gameplay this one is bad in its emphasis. We are only concerned with compliant and non-compliant.

Some miners have this superiority complex where they believe that the New Order should turn its full efforts towards healing their issues at the expense of the rest of hisec. Those miners are wrong; the New Order focuses on one system, subdues it, and moves to the next, redeeming all the criminals along the way. We aren't going to go on a road trip to aid just one individual.
