Extended Downtime on Thursday, January 10

How long does it take to change the world? The short answer is 5 hours and 15 minutes and more details can be found in this news item.

The merging of EVE Online and Dust 514 is a truly historic moment for us at CCP and for you, the players. We look forward to bringing you a new world in which capsuleers and mercenaries work hand in hand to build and destroy empires.

Edit - Downtime extended by 45 minutes.

Update at 11:46 UTC on January, 10 - Tranquility is up in testing mode and we are working through a checklist to test the migration and ensure it is working as expected. So far we have not encountered any significant issues but be aware that downtime may be extended slightly if such things arise.

Update at 11:53 UTC on January, 10 - testiong is going well and no major issues have been detected. We are going to be thorough in testing and will extending downtime to 12:50 UTC as a result.

So will I be compensated isk for 5+ hours of lost time spent ratting for the addition of content I can't play and don't care about?

You could spend that 5 hours reading the EULA, and then you'd have the answer to your question.

I wish the entire CCP Dev team involved in this massive project the best of luck. In the real world, any such infrastructure update, be it hardware or software, always has gremlins no matter how well-planned it is. Big difference is that when a good plan is in place, there are ways and means of dealing with the gremlins. Really, I wish you guys all the best and I look forward to greeting our Dust bunny brothers.

Also, please bring DUST 514 to the PC platform. You guys have the code. Convince Sony to let this be so Bear

Very much wishful thinking, I really doubt that's ever going to happen unfortunately. Here's hoping that Dust is a success on the PS3, and brings more EvE players to the PC as well.

Best of luck with the implementation, hope it doesn't go too far over time, but if it does, people will understand. Looking forward to logging in tonight and seeing some dust bunnies in local!
