The Proteus v.s. the Tengu in solo PvE

Hello everyone,

I know there are many threads on solo WH PvE, but I wanted to ask it in my own words in order to get the exact answer I'm looking for.

The Tengu is the king of solo PvE when it comes to WHs. Or so they tell me. I find it very lacking however in that in a optimal fitting, it doesn't have the use of drones and it is at a pretty significant disadvantage in PvP. ECM drones are amazing.

However, when it comes to the Proteus, I'm told it is not up to par with the tank of the tenge and therefore has problems doing anything above a c2, where as the Tengu can be fit to solo almost anything in the c3.

The questions are:
- Can the Proteus be fit to solo a c3?
- Is a proteus with a drone bay full of ECM drones viable for the accidental PvP encounter.

*This is all asked with the idea of using only one pilot for all actions.
*Feel free to argue all PvP can be avoided. I'd rather be prepared.

Not gonna answer your questions, but rather offer some advice, don't use a Proteus for PvE. Use a Tengu.

Not sure if Troll or if you're really so god damn lazy you can't read the other 3 threads near the top of this forum that address these exact questions...

Dual rep proteus can easily solo C3s, it's just slower and less effective than a Tengu imo. You may have to faction or deadspace the tank to get it to a high enough rating (and since I've never built one, you may be able to single repper it with deadspace).

Can solo C3s with a single repper Proteus? Yes.

Will you die to gankers? Yes. See an example of a smallish gank squad http://shivafurnace.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14394999, there aren't any ships that can handle that solo if you get caught. ECM drones didn't help, I also wasn't running them solo.

Does it make any sense to fly a T3 true solo in wh PVE? No.

Yes you can solo C3's with a proteus. With some deadspace tank and single to dual reps.
Downside is the lot of burning to get into optimal before you can apply your dps on it to speed things up
Still, then it's always cap-managing, site-managing, damage control and etc..

I used to run a solo Legion. Dual large cap batteries with daul armor reppers. Worked like a champ and never got neuted out (not even close). It was all T2 fit too, so no bling fits. I'm sure you could do something similar with a proteus. Can't fly one so i never tried. Tengu's are nice but generic and boring. Especially for C3 sites where all they do is sit there and hit F1 because everything is in range. I'd probably fall asleep. Hope this helps.

I have a good RL friend and corpmate who soloed in a legion. He didn't need dual cap batteries or dual reps however.
