I used to play this game on my old Comodore Amiga (1989 - 90 ish i think). Basically, you built and fit mechs (actually almost similar to EFT) and then went head to head either with AI controlled mechs or against another player (turn based) on a hex map (top down view). Your pilots had stats, which eventually (slowly) improved. Anyone have an idea of the name and / or if it exists on a windows environment? Much obliged : )

edit: I am pretty sure it was free ware back then.

nice find, but that was not it. the graphics were very rudementary and the map was just a field of hexes ( mechs looked like little red crescent moons, on the map different colors indicated water (helped cool the mech), forrest (better camo), hills see further, etc. Some mechs could equip jump jets and landing a small mech on top of an Atlas and critting his head was just EPIC.

Damn, it has been a looong looong time....

I believe the game your referring to is 'Mechforce'. There are alot of recreations of this as it appears to be a good game people wana code.

I do love the practice of preserving and restoring our gaming heritage. While I must admit this game is before the era I prefer to keep alive (I try my best to gather a collection of early 90's games, primarily the SNES era), cheers to the effort!

AWESOME FIND!!! That is the game! Man, it is sometimes oh so (bitter) sweet to revel in memories of times long gone.

btw, if i REALLY had to go to my gaming roots, I would have to go to "mule", an old, old multi player (hot seat) trading game....

Hehe, I know I may be going out on a limb here, and admittedly due to me not owning a PS3, Dust is a non issue, but HOW ******* cool would it be to fly some Jump ships and perform planetary landings with drop ships (a'la Battletech). Heck, I could imagine a whole slew of new security / distribution missions that way. Idea
